My friend makes that comment all the time. He says the pelicans should have the name Jazz. I don't think I even knew that it was New Orleans Jazz before that. Interesting. New Orleans Jazz makes sense. They should be Called Utah Salties.
My dislike for the Jazz faded a little when all the cheaters retired. I still dislike them but not as much as when Sloan was there.
I wanted to grab Jeff Hornacek by his ear and take him to timeout. Mark Eaton annoyed me. Stockton and Malone are 2 of the best ever. The team was tough. I despised the later iteration of Williams and Boozer much more.
I understand what you’re saying. At the same time watch these Jazz take the Rockets to a game 7. Also say recklessly hurt a role player. Then the Rockets lose to the Warriors. See how much you don’t hate them then lol
As long as they wear the jazz uniform they are the enemy! I would take a dump on their entire stadium if I could!
Got a Utah Jazz circle jerk going on in here. https://jazzfanz.com/forums/utah-jazz.1/ https://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewforum.php?f=33 https://www.slcdunk.com/ https://www.reddit.com/r/UtahJazz/
Actually, it's hard to forget how much I despised them in the late 90s and mid 2000s. That wound cut deep and they used a Morgul blade, so it will never heal.
There are some definite franchise name mismatches in the league due to moves, but Utah keeping the Jazz name is particularly offensive. FACTS Jazz music was created by black people. In the early 20th century, it was derided as lower class music by whites. For a modern analog, think of rap in the 1980/90s. Utah is an overwhelmingly white state. Utah's de facto "state" religion is Mormonism--a religion that only until a couple decades ago had official texts that labeled black people as "cursed" and inferior. I know for most people, team names don't mean much, and that's probably the case for most Utahns, but given this history, it's extremely tone deaf and insensitive to keep the name.
I don't really dislike the current Jazz players, because I barely know who they are. I can only name like four players. I view the Jazz team as nothing more than a small bump in the road to a championship. Small bumps are nothing more than a small annoyance.
