It happens time to time. Usually teams that finish their series in 6 games DO get 2 or 3 days of rest, but there are teams who get the short hand of the stick and only get one day. It's simply timing issues. It happens often, but sometimes it doesn't either.

    Last season:

Spurs in 6 on a Thursday: Played on Monday. Three days.
Wizards in 6 on a Friday. Played on a Sunday. Two days.
Raptors in 6 on a Thursday. Played on Monday. Three days.
Celtics in 6 on a Friday. Played on Sunday. Two days.

    2016 playoffs:
Atlanta in 6 on a Thursday. Played on Monday. Three days.
Portland in 6 on Friday. Played on Sunday. One day.

    2015 playoffs:
Chicago in 6 on a Thursday. Played on Monday. Three days
Atlanta in 6 on a Friday. Played on Sunday. One day.

    2014 playoffs:
Blazers in 6 on a Friday. Played on Tuesday. Three days rest

    2013 playoffs:

*Pacers in 6 on a Friday. Played on Sunday. One day rest.
*Knicks in 6 on a Friday. Played on Sunday. One day rest.
Warriors in 6 on Thursday. Played on Monday. Three days rest.
**Grizzlies in 6 on a Friday. Played on Sunday. One day rest.
**Thunder in 6 on a Friday. Played on Sunday. One day rest.

    *Played each other.
    **Played each other.

It's a disadvantage for the Jazz really. Fine with that.

I assume the reason is ABC wanted a second Sunday game. So HOU vs UTA was the only one that worked out. Tough luck for Utah, but that's the NBA. If they took care of business in the game 5 and didn't drop a 25 point lead, this would not be an issue for them.

It's a crappy turnaround for the Jazz. But so was the noon start for the Cavs and Pacers for their Game 7. For whatever reason, the NBA wanted daytime games yesterday instead of primetime, regardless of how tired the players were.

But it worked to the Rockets' advantage, so I'm not gonna complain. And BTW, this is not a new development in the NBA. In 1994 when the Rockets had their first title run, they finished off Portland late Friday night in Game 4 and then had to play Game 1 vs the Suns on Sunday afternoon.

Jazz blew a 25 point lead. They could have had the extra day too

Bottom line: Utah would have played at this time on Sunday regardless of the opponent.

Utah had a chance to close the series out in 5 last Wednesday and choked away a huge lead to extend their series. I get that it was on the road and all but they really should have won that game. If they did my guess is that the NBA would have put the Rockets Jazz game on Sat night and had the GSW/Pels game Sunday afternoon instead (it would have been far better ratings for them to have GS on a Sunday afternoon vs saturday night)

Quick turnaround for sure, but it wasn't like they had no control in the matter. Games 3 and 4 will have only a day in between as well (friday/Sunday) because of network scheduling. Its just how the NBA has always worked.

so according to your backwards azz pov because the jazz didnt close out they should play the next day??? gtfo my thread trying to hijack it with that nonsense. Anyone with common sense knows the criminal thugs that run the national basketball corporation wanted okc vs hou, they robbed the jazz in gm 5 and tried to rob the jazz the whole series. thats a fact not a opinion. I wont say the nba is trying to to rob the jazz vs hou by making them play 1 day after beating okc and I wont say the nba is trying to help hou. it was just a braindead move by the nba to make a team play in 1 day but this is expected from a league to let high school punks over run it when they didnt have to.

Firstly, it could've, and it should've.
But whats that about equality? Having a privilege by finishing your series early should be normal. In the past it was actually a problem because if you finished early you had to wait too long and get out of rythem.
Utah should've not give away that game 5 in the first place.
