Wolf is appropriate Ah ooooooooooo! Damn that b**** is homely. Pretty sure that one guy laughing was at her not with her but then again liberals think Kimmel is funny.

I feel like Comedy Central has nonstop been playing the Jeffrey Ross Roast of Trump from years ago to remind people that these hot takes from Wolf’s performance are 100% poltical because if they were so loyal to Trump and meany pants comedy, where were they when Jeffrey Ross unleashed on Trump a few years ago?

Wolf doesn’t represent the Democratic Party FYI even though the right wing media will surely take this as a referendum on the state of the party because they know liberals are so damn afraid of being mean and overly concerned with their perfection instead of saying F it like the right does.

Regarding the performance ... there was some funny stuff in there and some that was meh. To me it’s like she wrote the bit originally for a Netflix special where she prepared some Trump remarks and expanded it a bit.

Yeah it felt a little out of place given the audience but it’s a comedy bit by a stand up comedian. I’m sure they’ll micromanage the hell out it next year and more and more in this next generation meany pants comedy becomes more of a dying breed because of our culture of snowflakes who can’t handle any shred of truth that might have some burn to it.

Shouldn't a comedy bit by a stand up comedian be funny to the audience? Isn't that like rule #1?

I read somewhere the defense was she wasn't playing to the crowd, but rather to the viewing audience at home. OK ... but even a viewing audience at home won't find it as funny if it just sounds mean because of who is present in front of her. So it still fails on that basis.

i just find it amusing that people that are ok with 'grabbing people by their p*****s', shitholes, rapists and the word rape in general are saying this comedian with an annoying voice is somehow "vulgar" as Mr. Dennison tweeted. She's a comedian not a leader of the free world.
    What dimension are we in.

Yes, and if a bit isn't funny, it gets a thumbs down rotten tomatoes review, and the comedian suffers the effects of a bad comedy routine on their resume that sometimes can kill a career. It doesn't become a referendum on our culture and 60% of Americans as a political tribe.

I'm commenting mostly on the responses coming from the Right. Even laughable responses like this -

This jerkoff is a Koch Brothers lobbyist and probably a multi-millionaire because of it. He's propagating the event in a way that is being used as a political tool for the right, many will follow his lead in the right wing parrot media, and the media will cower to them because heaven forbid we don't play into the hands of the right wing media and their culture war movement every waking hour of the day.

    .........

FYI, I commented in my first post that some of it I THOUGHT was funny. Some was meh. It was written like it was meant mostly for a Netflix standup special more than anything. Colbert & Meyers in the past have written the event differently to fit the audience a bit more. Honestly I would think that many more people at home would be more appreciative of the fact that she seemed to be writing the bit more for people outside of the room than inside the room, but that's just me. But no, it wasn't that funny, but she found a way still to get her name out there more which probably works to her benefit longterm.

Schapp and wife were so insulted that they probably talked about it non-stop at the NBC after party they both attended... as did SHS.

This is the point. They are okay with it. They are USING Wolf's bit for political propaganda (Liberal Hollywood elite... mocking US simpleton Americans), and the media will lap it up because they always do.

The right does not give a sh$% about vulgarity and ugly speech obviously, and nobody should be treating folks like SHS and KellyAnne as sympathetic figures like they will be doing today on the so-called "liberal media" networks.

Yeah, I really "pussyfoot around" in my Trump commentary. Yup. And all his crook friends.

Just didn't think she was that funny other than her media comments. To each.

And yeah, I do think about messaging for 2018. Call me crazy. It matters to me.

In a sane country in a sane era, you would be mostly correct, I think.

Why not? If the media openly treats them with utter contempt, explain how that helps the current situation? It goes against the whole purpose of this event. They weren't invited to attend simply to be made a punching bag.

I'm not saying treat them with kid gloves, but it should be delivered in the spirit of fun and good will. That's the challenge of the gig.

I think it goes back to what the event coordinator was trying to accomplish at the event. The coordinator (Margaret something or another I can't recall) said in a statement that she booked Wolf because of her ability to "speak truth to power" and now is issuing essentially apologies today.

Wolf did that, but we now have to argue if it was funny or not which is besides the point that the coordinator was trying to accomplish. If anything it just seems like a mismanagement of the event from the people who booked it. Knowing the response, and knowing the comedic talent.

But my point was the ability of the Right to turn almost anything into political propaganda & a culture war. Not really to critique the person who booked the event and Wolf. If we are talking about "the spirit of the event" sure you are right.... it was off what many think of with the WHCD & what folks like SHS thought it would be.

That being said.... my point is the inevitable reaction to it which will feed right into the hands of someone like SHS, KelleyAnne, and Trumps propaganda network. If "the Media" was truly "the liberal media" that served a liberal agenda, they'd just be showing clips of Trump mocking a disabled reporter among the other greatest hit vile things he said first before they bring someone on to talk about how mean Michelle Wolf was.

She made several swipes at liberals and the media. The Jake Tapper orgasm face was funny, but inappropriate imo for the event. It's the WHCD. Key words, White House, ie the nation's stage. Don't tell abortion jokes and orgasm jokes. It's just not the right time. Also, that abortion joke wasn't funny, it was just awkward and gross. "Don't knock it till you try it, but really knock it, cuz you gotta get that baby out."

She made it way too personal, which takes the comedy out of it. It also likely means that next year they're going to either scrap the whole thing or they're going to find someone on who can equally eviscerate liberals and then it'll just become a mean-spirited tit-for-tat. Hey! Kind of like our politics!

LOL about too personal, this is just some amazing **** coming from Trump fans.

Is this a gaslighting thing or are you really offended? @Kevooooo are you some kind of a cuckflake or what man?

Here's a thing to say to Sarah Huckabee Sanders, and also a true thing:

    .
When you b****es get off the fainting couch, you should take a look in the mirror next time you want to call somebody out for being rude.

It is a stretch, but I am guessing it is for her defense of Trump's misogynous comments.
