actually, according my research, Michaels worked as a color analyst to the Lakers' legendary announcer Chick Hearns, some 30+ yrs ago.
I felt as if Al hadn't really done his homework when he claimed on one particular sequence that (because of $haq's size) it was the first time Yao has had to shoot a fadeaway in his life. Watched any Rockets games lately Mr. Michaels?
I love how Doc Rivers tried to predict when JVG was going to call a timeout but ended up being wrong...
bill and calvin are our commenators for chan 51. the other two are just bball commenators for abc. and they were bias at the beginning. we were playing great bball, so they started to give us more props.
When they were not giving the "Jordan Treatment" to Kobe and the Lakers, they did a great job. Unless I'm listening to a home-team broadcast, I prefer my national broadcast announcers to be somewhat more objective and non-partisan. That half-time interview with Kobe made me want to puke, and if I'm the prosecuting attorney, I would demand equal time. Felt great to see the Rockets win and I hope it gives them something to build on. You could tell that the Rocket win completely surprised the network and they didn't get to use all of their "best team of all-time" euphemism's. Go Rockets.
He didn't say it was the first time that Yao had shot a fade away. He said that Yao was so tall that he could shoot that fade away standing straight up but because of Shaqs size he had to lean back when he shot it. He then proceded to show the replay wher Yao was indeed leaning back when he shot the fade away.
Hehe was just thinking you know it was a good win for the Rockets when there's absolutely nobody to b**** about on the team and are left to point out every single mistake some commentators made. I hope we have more of these threads and less Rocket related criticism threads.
a sight you can see in each and every rocket's game this season, jump or no jump with yao it seems to not make a huge difference anyway. Thanks for the clarification though.
there's plenty to hate about the ABC/ESPN coverage of the NBA. i yearn for the days when bob costas, steve 'snapper' jones and the like.
The bit about Gwen Stefani and the 'no doubt' that ball went in before the shot clock. Funny stuff. Doc's reply was even funnier.
