Hey I am not that pissed for some reason. I feel calm now actually. I am glad they lost this game. What the hell was I thinking? No more BELIEVING for me! (I highly doubt they are not going to lose for the rest of the season; which is exactly what it would take for us to make it).

Well I think this also harms our chances of getting Webber. Why would he want to go to a team that just quit at the end of the season? I say we tank the rest of the games and let Denver catch up to us.

    Anyways... [IMG]

I don't think Webber would have come here anyway. Here's my rest of the season prediction:

The Rockets finish the season 4-4.
They blow the Atlanta game, and fail to sweep the central.
    Obviously, they miss the playoffs.
In the Summer, they go hard after Webber. In the process, they lose Mo, Shandon, and Hakeem. Webber goes to New York. By the time Webber makes up his decision, Davis and Jackson are already signed somewhere else.
The NBA then changes the rules to allow zone defenses. That forces the Rockets to redesign their entire offense.
The Rockets are stuck with this team next year:
    Francis Moochie
    Mobley Colson
    Walt Langhi
    Kenny Draft pick
    Cato Collier

Scary isn't it. That could very well be reality for next year.

That team would be lucky to get 35 wins.

B.S.! I don't think this will affect Chris Webber's decision negatively one bit. In fact, the addition of a lottery pick will only make Webber think more highly of the Rockets. Perhaps the Rockets will trade the pick for a decent center, which will make Webber even happier?

I am getting excited now about the Rocket's chances of head back to the promised land- another NBA championship! We need two good drafts and two good offseason free agent opps and the Rockets are in a better postion for the next 5 years than almost any other NBA team.

Jim, its going to be all or nothing. This could happen:
They sign Webber, Hakeem, and Shandon.
    Francis-Mooch
    Mobley-Shandon
    Shandon-Walt
    Webber-Kenny
    Hakeem-Cato

That would be a championship lineup, in my opinion. However, I think my original post is the more likely prediction. I don't see a middle ground. I think the Rockets either strike it rich, or get hit by a truck.

Your prediction is downright stupid. I hate to be rude, but anybody that knows ANYTHING about this game would never post ANYTHING like that.

Houston, year in and year out, is in the top 5 for most desirable FA destinations for many reasons.

    1. Urban setting.
    2. Great coach.
    3. Popular players around the league.
    4. No state income tax.
    5. Houston is in the middle of the U.S., so road trips are shorter.
    6. New stadium coming.
    7. Houston has the best off season ball in the world.
    8. Best strip clubs (for the Barkleys of the world).

Rudy T and CD will most likely know early if Webber is considering Houston, and NY can't offer Cwebb the max anyway. Quit being so negative- you sound silly!

Ahhh, the old ZRB is back. Way to flail around in negativism my man! It is never as bad as it seems and almost never as good either. The Rockets won't lose everyone and they won't get everything they want.

I think they'll figure out a way to keep most of what you said from happening just to spite you! [IMG]

All those facts do not guarantee that a free agent will sign with Houston. That is just the most pessimistic outlook. Pessimistic, but VERY possible.

Unfortunately,it's possible that ZRB might be right. However I don't think it's going to be that bad, because we will have more money under the cap than most teams.Although it's true that Chicago had a lot of money and couldn't get free agents,we have a much better record than them.In order for the Rockets to do well next year first we will have to get good front court players in the draft, who can defend and score in the post and from long range. This can help us a great deal if Taylor and Anderson demand a lot of money or decide to leave. The next thing to do will be to resign our own players to resonable contracts and then go for players like Antonio Davis ,Marc Jackson and Ruben Patterson, because it is highly unlikely that Webber will sign with us.The Rockets must fight in every game to the end, only by doing that can we gain respect in the league, fortunately we have fighters like Steve and Cuttino who won't give up on us.ROckets03 TANKING IS NOT ACCEPTABLE!
We are talking about the HOUSTON ROCKETS.

    ZRB--

Just promise me ONE thing. After posts like the ones you've made in this thread, DON'T go jumping in any more "believer" threads, saying "Now we need to go 9-0, etc."

As you said earlier in this thread, "it's going to be all or nothing." Stop the bi-polar bull****. Other people don't believe, either...and that's fine, you're ALL entitled to your own opinion. For instance, DaDakota has been saying for a LONG time that he doesn't think the Rockets will make the playoffs...and do we flame him? Do we hate him passionately? No, because his manner is civilized and doesn't waver at the drop of a hat.

I've seen you go back and forth what seems like 100 times the last two weeks. Enough already. Pick a side, and stick with it. Anybody can say "I was right" at the end of the game if they picked both sides.

    ZRB,

I recall a couple of weeks ago after that Indiana win saying that the Rockets were a playoff team whether they make it or not. And now your saying that we are going to blow away the offseason and be worse next year than this year. I really wish you would stop being so two-faced.

Mo has already said that he knows the Rockets will go after Webber, and I'm sure the rest of the potential FAs know that also. I am sure they will be patient with the Rockets and let them decide what they want to do before bolting.

There is no way this offseason will not improve the Rockets.

    ZRB,

Please explain how Webber will go to New York. Cap room straight up? Not even close. Sign and trade? With who? Let's run down the list.

Spree-- he is the draw for Webber, no chance
Camby-- just 6 mil per year, and Webber wants a good center alongside him
Houston-- Knicks say they want to keep him, and even if they don't he will be an FA and it would have to be his choice to go to the Kings... why would he do that?
Rice-- nice joke. I can see the Kings just begging to take on an old 10 mil per year player at a position they are already stacked at.
Longley-- Again, Kings already have Divac and Pollard both, and have no need for Luc's huge contract.

Mark Jackson, Charlie Ward, Kurt Thomas, Othella? All small salaries, and Jackson and Ward are useless to the Kings. How is Webber going to end up in New York? Don't spout your negative BS if you can't back it up, and trust me, you can't realistically back up Webber going to NY. It won't work, and won't happen.

And do you think Mo, Shandon, and Hakeem are fools? Their IQ would have to be about a combined 2 for them not to understand that Chris Webber is a larger priority than they are. If they don't understand that, then they have some serious mental problems, which I don't think they have. Why on earth would any NBA player not named Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, or Shaq take offense to Chris Webber being a larger priority than them? There is a pecking order in the NBA, and MVP candidates are at the top of that list, and anyone with a bit of common sense understands that and gives them their chance at first.

Along those same lines, Davis and Jackson would be idiots to sign before Webber decides. Their agents know what they are doing. Answer me this ZRB-- consider there will be about 4-5 teams with significant cap room this summer. All will be pushing hard after Webber, and not a one of them will commit to Davis or Jackson until Webber makes up his mind for sure. So what's left? 4 million exceptions and sign and trades. Do you not see how economically insane it would be for Davis, Jackson, Mo, Shandon, Dream, etc. to make up their mind before Webber decides? Several teams who end up short in the Webber sweepstakes will have tons of money to spend on FA's, and that is where players can end up hitting jackpot. Did you notice last year how Duncan and Hill were the first two dominoes to fall, and then everything else took shape? Notice how McGrady did not sign until after Duncan announced he would stay in SA and not go to Orlando? Why did he do that? Because if Duncan didn't commit to Orlando, McGrady could have all the advantages of the city of Orlando that players love, the maximum salary, and everything. There is a hierarchy in the NBA, and the top free agents go at the top. Where they decide not to go is where the money is for the remaining free agents, and believe me, anyone with half a brain knows this. Everyone with a chance at Webber and cap room, not just the Rockets, will be waiting for his decision. All that will be there before Webber's decision for the people like Mo, Shandon, Jackson, Davis, Dream, etc. are 4 million dollar exceptions and sign and trades, when straight up big money deals will be available in just a few short days from all teams but the lucky one with whom Webber signs with. Players are not out to screw anyone-- and no, they aren't offended by MVP caliber players taking a higher rank than them in the order. While other things are also key factors, your role players who aren't quite the max but in the middle want the money. Please explain any economic benefits to Davis, Jackson, Shandon, Mo, and Dream signing before Webber. If you can't, which I know you can't, again please stop with the pure **** posts that you have had until you can back them up. Thank you.
