I caught that too. That wasn't the only comment made that I laughed at. But Moochie played well tonight to his credit.
i thought Doc's comment of, "The Rockets are a team that likes to milk the clock by passing" was probably the most incorrect statement ever. but it did work tonight
I didn't really care for Doc tonight on the mic, but hey, he just started, so I'll give him a chance. I've heard way worse. Tom Tolbert, I'm looking in your direction... Michaels on the other hand, was fantastic to hear calling a basketball game.
The only thing you were right about in this post was Tolbert. Doc was on TNT for like 3 years before his Orlando job. He had plenty of experience, he just sucks. Al Michaels gets paid millions of $$$ to say crap like 'the Lakers usually play much better than this'. Can basketball commentators be any worse? Why can't television studios hire decent people???
Did anyone else catch one of them saying after Stevie made a bucket something to the extent of: "No matter how bad things may be going, Francis is one of those players you can count on to get his shot." Uh...
Doc said Moochie was a good player so he wouldn't offend anyone after saying Moochie wouldn't be in thier long. Doc probably doesn't really believe that Moochie is a good player. Duh.
The Rockets do milk the clock down, but i am not sure about the passing. JVG will be upset if they don't milk it down and take quick shots. However, they did pass a lot in the Lakers game to milk the clock and get open shots. So, Doc was right.
Look, when bball commentators say a player is good they don't mean it literally. They always find something positive to say about a player. Like how a player stepped up in the last 5 minutes or how a player can hit those all day after he made a basket. It has nothing to do with what they actually think. Think about it, how many times have you heard any of the announcers from any network (ESPN, NBC, ABC, CBS or anything) say a player is a worthless scrubs. The worst they'll say about a player is that he has a lot to learn.
haha I heard that too. but you know, he came in during the fourth quarter and hit a three, and then didn't turn it over. SOLID (by his standard). i mean, people who don't watch basketball much and only saw the christmas game must think we have an awesome team.
OMG, moochie played like **** today! He passed up open shots and turned the ball over up the ass! Doc is on crack!
but if he shot and didn't make it, we would have complained that he's shooting. personally, when i see mooch shoot, i cringe to my seat.
