Don't let the Rockets ruin you Christmas!

After last night's contest and countless other excruiating games this season, I've made the decision to completely ignore the Rockets' Christmas Day game with the Lakers.
Christmas should be a time to spend with family and friends. It's a day to celebrate the birth of a Savior and the redemption of mankind. It's set aside for peace on Earth and good will toward men.
I don't get any sense of peace or good will from watching this team. Therefore, I will not let my holiday be ruined by excessive dribbling or bad decision making or the slow-down offense or all the offensive rebounds we give up or those @#$@#%$#% 24-second violations.
See, that's what I mean. I don't want to feel that way on Christmas. That's why I'm skipping the Rockets game, and I encourage all other BBS posters to do the same.
Watch "It's a Womderful Life" or "A Christmas Story" or "A Charlie Brown Christmas." Or turn off the TV and spend time with your children or wife or your friends or someone else you don't see much during basketball season. Go to church. Deliver gifts to needy children. Volunteer at a food bank or soup kitchen.
We have 364 other days to complain about the Rockets and to curse the fates that brought together these men and this coach for a regular display of ugly basketball. Christmas is best spent on other pursuits, and the holidays are stressful enough without watching the Rockets get embarrassed.
Merry Christmas to all (even the Lakers), and here's hoping the 2004 portion of this season will be better than the 2003 part.

If the bad play of the Rockets makes you so upset that it actually ruins the time you spend with your family and friends, you probably need to re-think your priorities anyway. :)

I don't know if you can do that. Fans are miserable. They can't help but thinking "well, maybe, ..., just maybe, they will be playing well this time and win the game...". We just can't resist the temptation.

Exactly. Makes me wonder how so many people can fly off the handle after a loss or a series of losses. There is more to life than the Rockets.

They could be 0-26 and Ill still watch every game and look forward to life outside of my Rockets fantacism.

Is that a freudian slip of sorts. Are you trying to say a Rocket fan is a fanatic living a fantasy if he thinks the Rockets will beat the Lakers and do anything more than be eliminated in the first round at best this year.

Whoever said the NBA was fantastic hasn't watched a Rockets lately.

    Go Houston Rockerbockers.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good win. Ho-Ho-Ho

And you know Ill be there for every single one of them....win or lose.:D

All I ask is that if you others have given up on the team already...dont bring your disappointment and hatred to chat. We have enough of that already.

Rock on guys...have a great holiday.

Just because our team stinks and is playing the best team in the league on that team's home floor with a national TV audience largely rooting for that team (save for a few of Chinese descent)....I mean, just because the cards are heavily stacked in favor of the Lakers embarassing the hell out of us, why avoid the game?

Although Steve and Cat sometimes only come awake for good teams (oh, that's a good team, I respect them, I'll actually try now; that sort of thing). I would hope they would have that much pride.

Anything less than a blow out is acceptable. :)

If they win, that much better.

I am one of those who has to rethink how much time and energy I should be putting into following the team. All I know is that the justification for a dedicated following is just not there. If I had purchased LP by the month then this would be my last month. From Captain down to cook, this team sinks royally and will for some time.

Is this why you always say no change is needed? You're the king of the status quo.

    Enjoy your kingdom.

In spite of the above acidic post, I must complement you on always having quality writing. Merry Christmas.

I'm an addict. I have to watch. I've stocked up on Pepto and tissues. However, I am compelled to remind the board that we celebrate Christmas because of the great miracle humanity received. Perhaps we Rockets fans should keep our eyes on the donut and not the hole -- but still be blessed with a tee-tiny gift-wrapped miracle of our very own. Hope springs eternal.

Donatello, please remember that using the term "X" for Christ, especially on Christmas Eve, offends many, many people. Merry Christmas.:)

Dear Rock, weren't you the guy predicting a 3 or 4 seed? Maybe that's why you're so disappointed. Maybe you (and the rest of you) had unrealistic expectations. We have the same record as Dallas. Should we have a better record than them? Really? Should we? I've been watching the Rockets since the seventies. I'm used to a disappointment (I used to follow the Astros and the Oilers too). But I still love basketball and the Rockets are still my favorite team. I get a lot more frustrated when I feel like the team's given up than when they're trying and failing. I've only seen a few games this year, since moving from Houston (some of you guys don't know how good you have it, having the choice to turn off the game when I don't have the option of turning it on), but I don't get the idea that they're giving up or that the problems are willful. I get the idea that they're trying. I get the idea that they may be playing dumb sometimes, but are focused on trying to play smarter. That's an upgrade from last year, when they were playing dumb and finding excuses for it. Of course, like I said, I haven't seen many games this year. As such, I'm definitely not sitting out tomorrow night. I can't wait. As for those of you who are so frustrated that you'll avoid the game (or boycott home games - truly one of the dumbest things ever posted here), do us a favor and avoid posting too. This is one of my best sources for Rockets info and some of you guys are giving me a headache.

Dude. Take it to the D&D. X-Mas is used everywhere. If it offends you, you must get offended a whole hell of a lot.

    Merry Christmas.
