So the interesting story moving around Washington was who exactly did Cohen represent other than Trump. This is interesting because he's a "Fixer" for the first two names and helped cover up sexual escapades. So who is the third client that wanted to fight being named?
I started typing Deep state and acidentally hit Derp so I went with it. It's like Newton and the apple or Emmett Brown and the Toilet bowl.
Unfortunate for Hannity, and I'm scratching my head a bit on why he needed to be outed. Why does the judge need the list of clients be made public? For Cohen, why is fighting what looks like a losing legal battle more important than protecting your other clients' privacy?
Michael Cohen: "And I paid Sean Hannity with money from my own pocket." Prosecutor: "Why would you pay Sean Hannity your own money? For what purpose?" (sound of crickets chirping) No, the above has not occurred. Hannity makes far more money just spewing his hot garbage; he doesn't need payments from The Donald. But oh, one can daydream.
Cohen's original argument is that he has other clients who are not part of this case that could have documents and information related to them swept up in the FBI raid and that either Cohen's team or an independent person/group, needs to review those documents to determine which documents should be made available to the FBI and Justice Department. Cohen then said that he only had 3 clients in the last year. And a ruling on whether the FBI could review the documents without naming the third client, would have caused a million right wing conspiracy theories. They had to name it publicly or they would fatally destroy the credibility of the case and the judge. The prosecution successfully argued that the public interest in knowing and the legitimacy of the case outweigh the client's request to stay private. And I agree with the decision. Imagine if the judge doesn't reveal the third client but agrees to allow the FBI to review the seized documents. The Alt Right would instantly call the decision not credible and claim some deep state bs conspiracy even though Cohen was the one who requested that the third client not be revealed.
...uh, I ain't no lawyer... ...on the internet or anywhere else... ...but considering Donald Trump and his cohorts (or co-conspirators) fancy themselves a "family" of the old world variety... ...this Cohen guy... a "Tom Hagen" he most definitely is not...
