The former Cy Ranch quarterback allowed an unearned run, a hit, walked 2, and struck out 7 in 4 innings for Buies Creek. J.J. Matijevic and Corey Julks have both homered for Quad Cities. Yohan Ramirez went 5 innings and allowed an unearned run on 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 7.
Cristian Javier closes out Quad Cities' 11-1 victory: 4 IP, 3 H, 2 BB, 6 K J.B. Bukauskas will get the start tomorrow.
Bukauskas allowed 2 runs on 3 hits, walked 4, and struck out 6 in 3.2 innings. Quad Cities trails Kane County 3-1. Buies Creek got a shutout tonight as they blanked Lynchburg 4-0. Abdiel Saldaña: 6 IP, 4 H, BB, 6 K Jesús Balaguer: 2 IP, 2 BB, 2 K Kit Scheetz: IP, H, BB, 3 K
Did anybody say he was working on his changeup, or talk about him after that start? I don't care really, first start of the year and all that, but was just curious.
Jorge Alcala failed to get out of the 2nd inning tonight for Buies Creek... he allowed 3 runs, 2 hits, and walked 5 in 1.2 IP. He walked the last three guys he faced; two of them walked with the bases loaded.
Jim Callis pegged Nova, Solis, and Matijevic as his Astros sleeper prospects in his mailbag today. Sure would have been nice for Solis and Nova to be assigned to QC but I can certainly see why they weren’t and it shouldn’t really be a ding on them with as young as they both are.
While I'm not for throwing away guys with contract issues in the minors, I do prefer prospects that make frequent contact when they swing.
I feel the same way, but its also why I didn't have a lot of faith in George Springer and was against drafting Kris Bryant.
In a small sample size this season, Yordan Alvarez has apparently swung and missed on 4 pitches, his strikeouts early on appear to be due to an overly passive approach. He didn't strikeout much in A+ ball, and in Quad Cities, he was so dominant that he didn't have to work on cutting down his strikeouts to be successful. I think it might be a bit early to label him a strikeout prone player.
Brandon Bielak vs. Salem: 5 IP, 3 H, BB, 8 K Hector Perez has entered the game with Buies Creek leading 6-0.
Jonathan Arauz is currently 2-2 with a 2-run double for Quad Cities. He's recorded a hit in 5 of his first 6 games this season.
Josh Rojas has 4 SB so far this season. SSS but that would indicate some good speed. I’ve read he has defensive limitations but not sure what they are if he is a plus runner with an arm good enough that they’ve put him at 3B a few times.
