    From CNNSI.com:

Kings forward Chris Webber continues to add to speculation he'll bolt Sacramento for New York as a free agent in the offseason. He recently revealed that he even spent much of the past two summers living in the Big Apple.

"Two years ago I had my own place, and last year I crashed with friends," Webber says, adding that he gave up his Manhattan apartment because he wasn't using it enough. "But I had enough fun that I wanted to be back there."

Webber is said to be keenly interested in playing in New York, which offers a competitive team in a big market. He also admits his friendship with Knicks forward Latrell Sprewell, a former teammate in Golden State, could weigh in his decision.

"He was really important to me during my rookie year," Webber says. "Everybody knows how I feel about him as a player and a person."

Webber, who in `96 appeared in an episode of New York Undercover, apparently lived up to the show's title during his stays in Gotham. Other than being spotted once at a New York Liberty game, he somehow managed to keep a low profile.

"I never went to any shows or to a Yankees game," he says. "I just hung out with my friends."

    Say it ain't so!

What does it matter who he's eyeing, he can't go to New York.

Puedlfor--I think he can, and I think he will...and if it wasn't a slap in the face to begin with that he's not coming here, unfortunately, he'll probably just use us to get there. Eddie Jones did the same thing with Charlotte--threatening to sign outright with Chicago unless they did a sign and trade with Miami, so they could at least get something for him.

Now, one obstacle to overcome, and I think this is the reason you don't think he'll go to New York, is that NY doesn't have the valuable commodities that Miami had to facilitate the trade...well, they have them, they just don't want to trade them.

If NY is going to get him, it's a given Camby will go--but I don't know who else--the only way I see it happening is if they get a 3rd team involved that Allan Houston wouldn't mind going to...they definitely won't be able to sluff off LJ on anybody. That said, I still think NY will find a way to get it done. [IMG]

I don't live in Houston, so please enlighten me:

Why would Webber want to come to Rockets if he doesn't like Sacramento?

1 Rockets fans always complain about not getting respect from the media. Isn't that one reason why Webber doesn't like Sacramento?

2 If he is leaving for Sacramento being a small market, won't Rockets' current low attendance discourage him? NY seems more attractive.

3 I live not too far off Sacramento, and I think Houston's weather will not be an incentive since it is good here too.

    1. I have not heard this. Can you back this up?

    2. By small market, he doesn't mean attendence. He wants cultural diversity and entertainment choices. Houston, being the 4th largest city in the nation, has these things.

    3. I don't know about the weather in Sac, but it's nearly always nice here, except for the summer heat. Speaking of summer, a LOT of NBA stars make Houston their summer home. Off season basketball games at the Fonde rec center are legendary. Webber would enjoy that.

I was thinking we could Scope out
Allan Houston for our SF in this deal

Webber --> Knicks [what they want]
houston --> houston [sf we want]
Cato --> Sac [defensive center behind vlade]

    Rocket River
What else would we want from NY?
Kurt Thomas at the 4 instead of Houston?
