Pitched 2 days in a row.

ETA: I'd also like to point out that this 5-1 homestand was cause for much wailing and consternation. By myself included. Things ain't all that bad.

Technically, no one should have been coming home on the routine popup yesterday. Play should have been Hosmer and Ellis pursue pop up. Pitcher should run to cover home for that 0% chance that the pop up drops in, 2nd base to cover first.

Ellis readily admitted he should have gone to the pop up for that extra option. Catchers make plays similar to that all the time. Hosmer was even playing a deep first base.

Also the fact he didn't use Peacock in the 7th or 8th. That being said, Hinch is probably still trying to figure out what he has. Wouldn't be surprising right now for them to have a handful of guys he feels comfortable closing and Hinch mixing and matching as he sees fit. Seems like they have the egos to handle no one being "the man".

I think I was clamoring for this last year when Giles was “the man”, closer by committee.

McHugh pitching pretty badass out of the pen has to add into that somewhat, even though he's not accustomed to regular pen work yet. Maybe he's not just the slop-game longman? Maybe he's the new Peacock? Dunno much, but it'll be interesting.

No matter how exciting Giles made saves during the regular season, percentage wise, he was 2nd (barely out of first) in the American League. During the season there was no reason to make a switch. Regardless of how he got there, he accomplished his primary job very well.

Maxwell is my catcher, when Mccannonball isn't catching! Are we just going to ignore his huge bat to start.

And the Astros literally knocked the Dodgers and Jansen back into the stone age. They have not recovered.

They have much, much more depth in the pen now as opposed to then (theoretically, at least). Giles is on Sipp-level as far as I'm concerned until he earns it back. He's had a clean game (no hits, no walks) in 5 of his last 23 appearances dating back to last September 1 (ignoring 2 of 8 in ST).

    Peacock
    (then no order, situationally)
    Devo
    Harris
    Smith
    Rondon

    McHugh (wildcard)

    Giles/Sipp

Oh I was just talking about this series, really. Watching their offense was sad and it made me feel sad. And angry. Mostly angry.

Dude, sangria would have been perfect this weekend. Except for yesterday 'cause it was cold as hell.
