Can the nba shorten the season already? It’s such a long season that everyone forgets about what happened for the first 60 games? Why in the world would one of the last few games of the year hold so much weight in mvp voting?

Dan Patrick, who I usually can tolerate. "Harden tries to play defense, but can't play defense. Lebron helps out a lot, gets lots of steals"

And then NBA Fan will parrot that because he takes it for gospel, despite the facts. The national media knows the role they play in informing the people, yet they continue to be lazy, agenda-driven, and ignorant. It sucks because year after year, we're on the butt end of that ****.

In summary: January doesn't count because it just so happened to be Lebron's shittiest month. Called this ****. Media pulling out all the stops for their favorite boy Bron.

Noticed when it was Westbrook or Curry, there was an excitement at what those players were doing in the season and an excitement to be able to recognize that. With Harden it's lots of hands up in the air and, "Well, I guess he has to win it right?" and "He will win it, but...." Some even go so far as to act like his winning is an attack on the integrity of basketball itself.

If you ask why, the only answer I keep hearing is what happened in the playoffs (doesn't count for MVP this year), he doesn't play defense (WAY wrong this year and Westbrook, and Curry, and this year, Lebron's defense has been terrible), or that it's MDA's system (Nash won twice, no one gives credit to Kerr's system as Warriors only became dominant once he became the coach).

It's incredibly ridiculous and I'd like to honestly know why the haters hate so much.

How can one be considered MVP when they are knowingly going to bail on their team the following year.

This is not an MVP race. Harden wrapped it up a long time ago. Ignore the media if you can’t handle it.

The LeBatard Show has normalized media people announcing that they have “hot takes”, like this cohost here says “I have a scorching hot Kawhi take”.

...Except the LeBatard show is a show that makes fun of these other sports shows, and these guys using the phrase as some sort of badge of honor to say some outlandish nonesense is lame, played out, and needs to stop.

The playoffs are about to start so who really gives a F about MVP chatter.

That said, Lebron and the Cavs went 16 and 21 from Dec 19th to Mar 15th. (37 games---almost half of the season).

    Yeah Lebron is the MVP...

    I will say this:

It’s crazy that Harden had to have an out of body season while leading the Rockets to the best record above the greatest team ever assembled to be seriously considered for MVP.

Harden is a flat-footed defender. He only looks good defensively when a player is in front of him and tries to shoot over. But if that player makes a driving move to the basketball James will be caught flat-footed and will let his man go by hoping to poke the ball from behind, especially if it's in the open space. He might try for a block if he's already near the basket but James will happily watch his man go by and gives his teammates a 'where the help stare' afterwards.

That is where LBJ distance himself from Harden. LBJ will move his feet and try to get back to his man and make an effort. And if anyone thinks I'm full of it, ask yourself this, have you ever remember a time where Harden sprinted back on defense after getting burn and make a play at the basket? It never happens. His fire don't burn equally on both ends. And that will always be his flaws.

Lebron has been taking a ton of plays off defensively, let’s not act like he’s actually been good defensively this year...his DRPM is worse than Harden’s

speaking of playing no defense and then giving your teammates a “where’s the help stare” afterwards...

if we’re talking about happily letting their man go by...

    Harden isn't a great defender.

Lebron hasn't even been as good as Harden this year. The playoff Lebron people are saying will happen / hope for, is that he actually plays great defense.

    We shall see.

Also, Harden averages more steals per game than Lebron, so if that was one of Patrick's takes, it's as dumb as saying the earth is flat, or the sun is cold... just not true.

    "gets a lot of steals."

FACTS: This season James Harden is 7th in the NBA in steals. LeBron is 26th.

So, when Patrick makes those comments, they are incorrect. But since Patrick is an "influencer" and his audience assumes his information is correct he misinforms his audience.

This is just an isolated example, but it is the kind of thing we see in the media and how "#narratives" get built.
