OK, so we saw Russillo's post. Well he dropped a podcast today. I was eager to listen to his "argument" on behalf of LeBron over Harden for MVP. What stats would he use? I mean, Russillo is supposed to be a smart BB guy, right?

Well.....there was no real argument. Seriously. Left me dumbfounded. Discussion starts at 34 minutes into the pod.

That was an awful discussion. I'm glad he doesn't have a vote. It was really really dumb.

No worries. Click without fear! it is a third party youtuber. The clicks don't benefit ESPN or Russilo.

An overwhelming majority picked the Warriors to win the Western Conference before the season. If the Rockets not only best the Warriors in the Western Conference, but they won a franchise record of 60+ wins. If wins and stats doesn't translate to MVP, it is a MVP based on bias.

    Put it this way...

If LeBron James was averaging 30/9/5 on the best team in the league on pace to win 65 games, he would be the unanimous MVP and there would not be a discussion. Even us here on Clutchfans couldn't really argue with it.

James Harden doing it, however, upset and disappoints people, as they would rather somebody else win, hence the debate people are having, despite what should be an obvious choice.

There is a lot of momentum for Lebron to win the MVP right now. A few weeks ago the question was whether Harden could be unanimous, now the conversation is whether Harden deserves it at all.

Lebron piping up to campaign for himself has really put this back into the conversation.

Harden has played in 9 fewer games than LeBron, yet still has 9 more wins.

    Harden's record: 57-12 (.826)
    LeBron's record: 48-30 (.615)

Pointing out that LeBron has played every game is, in some sense, an argument against his impact.

I swear, if we could peer into a parallel universe where all the stats and records were reversed between the two players, we'd see LeBron winning unanimously with Harden laughed out of the conversation.

On that note, isn't it funny how defense is being completely ignored now that Harden has improved and LeBron has become the lazy one out of the two? One guy's team is 29th in defense and he's 195th out of 204 qualifying players* in Defensive Win Shares Per 48 - and that guy ain't named James Harden (he's 77th).

    *Minimum 60 games (20 mpg)

Am I wrong in thinking that at this time last year there was a spreadsheet some guy had created putting in actual votes where they had been publicly disclosed and it was pretty much a given that Russ had it locked up?

Where is said spreadsheet this year?

If Harden does not win it this year, then it's clear he never will, and it will be entirely because of bias.

There's also that narrative that its somehow MDA's system (which is nothing like his Sun's teams) that's making Beard this good...and Lebron has no coach or help

    Harden's MVP Requirements
    • Play 82 games
    • Win at least 74 games, but preferably all 82
    • Lead league in scoring
    • Lead league in assists
    • Lead league in rebounding
    • Be a legitimate candidate for DPOY
    • Play every game 1 v 5 for all 48 minutes
    • Have shin bones extended by 3 inches
    • Get facial reconstruction surgery
    • Change name to LeBron James

The so-called rightful MVP with inferior stats barely squeaked by the Wizards, while also missing clutch FTs (although granted, not as bad as Harden).

What’s amazes me is the pass he gets on defense. He’s been horrendous. Not to mention can’t keep a star level teammate or coach. It’s really a joke
