JVG can preach and set play all he wants, ultimately it comes down to the players to perform. They didn't, pure and simple.
It's not about total fouls. It's about the ticky tac fouls called on Yao. Rox without Yao equal worse team in the nba.
Watching this team makes me want to bash my head against a wall. Turnovers, bad shots, and no fire from most of our so called superstars. It really makes pulling for them tough when they let guys like Joe Johnson eat their lunch. I really hope our front office looks to do something before the deadline, but I really get the feeling that they aren't going to do anything.
Steve Francis-I am the best, nobody can stop me Cuttino Mobley-If I get the ball I will shoot Jim Jackson-I suck, I can't hit open 3's Mo Taylor-I am power foward but I don't rebound Moochie Norris-I just suck Kelvin Cato-I love to shoot Jumpers Eric Piak-I don't get the ball enough (only postive) John Amechi-I haven't played a minute this whole year Alton Ford-I am the only true power foward on roster Mike Wilks-I am better the Norris but I got a mystrious injury (fake injury) Boki-I want to go back to Italy
What are you talking about? Most players have one dominant dunk. Steve dunks with two hands, Mo dunks with his right hand,Cato dunks with two.... Yao is as versatile as a center gets.(offensively) I would agree that he telegraph his moves though.
This was the 2nd of a back to back on the road. Phoenix did not have a game yesterday and they lost a ton before this game. Stephon Marbury always gets the best of Steve. Yao then gets called for some ticky-tack fouls. Piatkowski and Mobley bricking shots as if they got JJ's shooting ability? I really like it when Yao kicks the ball out of double teams. He almost always gets the ball to a man who can swing it around the perimeter to basically get the defense way off balance. Piatkowski missed 2 3 point shots that were attempted from Yao kick outs. Perimeter shooters going bad was the downfall of the Rockets today.
WOW, kind of funny that all of a sudden the Suns win and slinslin show's up. Where is he when they loose? What a damn Troll!
Yesterday's game was pretty because the shots were falling, but not because "they finally got it". That hot shooting comes and goes. You cannot count on it. You have to minimize your mistakes every night, and that get you through when you are not shooting the light out. That is what I said after yesterday's game and people said I was b****ing. Sadly, what I was afraid happened tonight. I just haven't seen the fundamental changes that shows our players are getting smarter, period. I won't get too excited before they get there, and I will not get over excited over one or two wins.
Sad thing is the Rockets are ripe for a four game losing skid considering they face Indiana, Lakers then Denver on a back to back roadtrip away from home. Considering the higher altitudes and the fact that we'll be playing back to back, the Rockets should be flat out exhausted, especially Yao considering his conditioning problems where the air is thinner. Yao might very well have a freaking asthma attack after playing Shaq one night then having to run up and down the court against the high scoring, run and gun offensive team of Denver the following night. And considering they lost 3 in a row before the two game win streak against two of the worst teams in the NBA, they're due for 3 and 7 for their last ten games. Actually now that I look at it, following the Denver game Rox face Seattle and they always give us troubles. Might very well be a 5 game losing skid, going 2-8 in the last ten games they played. I hate being such a pessimist.
I don't know what you are trying to say. If you are saying that Yao can't be the defensive presence he usually is because of his foul troubles you have a point. But we stunk it up down the stretch that's why we lost, pure and simple. For the most part our frontcourt played great (Cato A+, Yao in his limited mins A, MoT didn't cost us too much), our backcourt simply sucked though. Can't hit an open jumper AND can't play D. You can easily find all the excuses in the world (as Rockets fans have been doing that for millennia) but quite simply, we lost the game ourselves.
Rockets without Yao scrapes the bottom of the Western Conference. I doubt they are at the bottom of the NBA. The Magic is worse. Hawks are bad too. Rockets without Steve is pretty bad too, but I'd rather play Mobley at the point and put Piat at the 2 than start Moochie. Moochie's play was so bad that Van Gundy had to play Steve a lot of minutes even on a back to back.
