No one is or can. That was sorta my point.

    Agree with the rest.

I think Reed has seen his last chance. Now its White or Davis. Both are raking and both need a shot. Any scenario where they both make the roster? Do they trade the one that doesn't? Right now I say Davis because of his power numbers, but I like White and think he is a major league player for someone this year or next.

I tend to agree. But I think he has till a few weeks before the trade deadline. Way way too early to write him off just yet.

I think Luhnow would like to trade one of them if he could get decent value in return. Like you say, they both deserve a place on a major league roster somewhere.

The problem seems to be that the other 29 teams' GMs don't value either player very highly. What they are looking at is the fact that Davis put up only a 100 wRC+ in the majors last season, which is neither good nor bad, just average; and with White, people still fixate on how he disappointed the team's and the fanbase's expectations in 2016 when he won Player of the Week in early April, but then fizzled. Those looking closely at White's career know that he changed several aspects of his hitting mechanics from summer 2016 to summer 2017 and he really has only put up stellar numbers since then, regardless of whether one is talking about minor or major league ball. But the curse of 2016 still creates a lot of skepticism about White's readiness and that impacts his trade value.

Maybe, if they both continue to have strong ST performances, one of them can get traded and landing a starting job.

Couldn't get past first few sentences. While I doubt Reed becomes anything significant at this point, I see no reason to end "experiment". The experiment doesn't cost Astros anything except the opportunity cost of giving someone ABs even less likely to succeed than Reed. Davis and White should get time ahead of him when it closer to the season, and ABs become more important to get the MLB players ready.

Considering the likes of Nick Tanielu, Randy Cesar and Alejandro Garcia are getting AB's right now, it's safe to say Reed's presence isn't obstructing anybody.

We will get some hint of Reed's standing within the organization in 1-2 weeks' time, as players in the major league camp start to get sent packing off either back home or to minor league camp.

Here are said blogger's thoughts on McCann being on the '19 squad:

"Notice, fans, that I affirm Brian McCann will vest his 2019 club option. As unpopular as that opinion may be, I have the full confidence in the BMac. Having grown up watching him in Atlanta, I know full well that he is far from losing gas out of his tank, no matter his physical age."

That's the extent of his analysis. I'm convinced.

I guarantee McCann will not meet the necessary requirements to vest the option. And I'm just some random obnoxious, sarcastic grumpy old man.

That’s the content I expect from a guy whose range of composition is limited to primarily writing Evan Gattis fanfiction

I think along the same lines about White. He may not have put up a huge batting average this spring, but he made good contact on the ball so if you factor out his bad BABIP luck, he had a fine spring. When he wasn't getting a hit, he was often walking or getting a sac fly -- in other words, finding ways to advance runners and put himself on base. That's a valuable kind of guy to have as a UT/DH/PH.

Oh and he rakes against LHP so in a series like the current one against Dallas, he's gold.

Hope he’s not rushing back too fast, but this is great news. Will further solidify our lineup.

Hitting off Hoyt will give him a false sense of security.
