eFG matters? Where was that with Westbrook? Do we need to start a Capela for MVP campaign? I need guidance here, all of these facts flip every year in their importance.

This is the third year that Harden has been up for MVP and narratives are getting molded to a more "polarizing" player.

15' Steph Curry big push from ESPN/NBA-Nike
    17 'Westbrook's big push from ESPN/NBA-Nike
    18' Lebron's obvious push from ESPN/NBA-Nike

Curry, Bron, and Westbrook are all obviously partnered with Nike who is partnered with ESPN and the NBA.
NBA signs deal with Nike; logo to appear on uniforms

It is no secret in the business world why these stars get pushed front and center. I wouldn't even call this a conspiracy as much as just how business works.

Hey, for me, Westbrook was a terrible MVP winner. You're right, he was highly inefficient, and that should have been a knock rather than just incidental.

But I personally give credence to eFG%. I hope that many GMs do because that's exactly what Morey is looking at and what he speaks to when he applies statistics. If they are not, this is going to be a boring league...for everyone else.

Unfortunately, I cannot control the army of Anti-Harden troll voters though. It's just that in this case, I happen to see merit in a statistic one of them uses. Less so on the VORP, but I haven't had a chance to really determine if that number is even accurately summarizing a player.

Either way, if you're gonna ask guidance from me? I agree with your overall tone - stay consistent, bholes (being the flip flopping voters).

Oops, my post wasn't targeted at you, just complaining about the inconsistency of the media with rhetorical questions. I agree with all of this.

Does Kellerman have a vote? If so, we found the one keeping Harden from a unanimous vote.

    If not, WGAF?!?

There is no way Harden gets a unanimous MVP. The narrative against him as seen historically is too high.

I think MVP is in the bag, but unanimous is impossible.

Do SAS and Max have this same conversation every day?

Oh, and btw, it's interesting how most analysts don't even come close to mentioning how horrible Lebron has been defensively this year. Not that he's a bad defender - I personally think he's coasting in that department - just that he's been bad this year. He's been worse defensively than Harden this year, imo. That's damning, lol.

Based on the same logic, GSW should be crowned the title of this year's NBA, because they have developed the resume to be the best team in the NBA for the past 3 years.

To me, every season is independent, an award for a particular season should be purely based on players performance that year, no player should not benefit from their history of performance prior to that season, just like the GSW shouldn't automatically have a 1 or 2 game lead in any playoff series because they're the defending champion.

Well this year's Lebron is worse defensively not only than this year's Harden, but also than 2015-16 Shaqtin' a fool MVP Harden.

Can you honestly say Harden is the better player this year? Just this year. LeBron does everything for that Cavs team and he is the pulse of it on offense and defense. Harden is the most prolific scorer this season, but his defense has been middle of the road to good. Both are excellent players, but as we saw last night Harden has some excellent teammates too. LeBron's excellence doesn't underscore the season that James has had, but I really feel like makes that Cavs team a threat and third in the east. Then again, I can see your side of it too.

This is why I don't like the inconsistancy of the award. I wouldn't be opposed to best player and best year type of awards either.

The real question is, who was Curry partnered with in 2015?

    Under Armor...Just saw that.

First of all, Lebron's defense is terrible this year, that's part of the reason why Cavs are the 2nd worst defensive team in the NBA. It's not that he is too old to be good at defense, it's just he doesn't show any effort. Basically he is saving his energy on defense so he can do more on offense, just like what Harden used to do. If you don't watch Lebron this year, think of 2015-2016 James Harden as a fair comparison.

Second, I am honestly not sure who is a better player this season, Harden or Lebron. But I am sure that Harden's performance this year is much better Lebron, both offensively and defensively, and that's all it matters for any awards.

I don't like the idea of having two awards. The new award will downgrade the value of the old award, and itself will become a sympathy award for the MVP runner up, which makes no sense.
