Looking at the houston rockets compared to most teams, The rockets have the most experience, just like the Celtics did when they won a chip, just like a few other teams. While looking at most teams, they seem to have gone younger, while a lot of vet players have mysteriously falling from the days past (2010-15). Too me yes the rockets look like the older and wiser team, but still very quick considering age. Very much like the 08 Celtics, although they lack there 3rd star, they have combination of players that make up for that with likes of Capela or Ariza. Does these aged teams with vets mean anything, they usually bundle up on these teams with 2 or more star players on them to win a chip. Rockets should get a shot at the O'Brien trophy this year. So yes i was comparing this team to the Record: 66-16, 07-08 Celtics team with pierce on it. Very similar dominate teams. ~le$$
The Rockets remind me of the 2014 Spurs. Coming off a stunning playoff loss the previous year, everyone has been playing with a chip on their shoulders since training camp Best regular season team by far Deep lineup full of dependable players, bomb 3's, good defensively Most importantly, imo: The ability to turn an 8-12 point lead into a blowout within minutes. This is the biggest indicator of a dominant team.. like the Warriors of 2017. I also think the Warriors of this year kinda look like the 2014 Heat. Coming off 3 straight Finals and 2 titles, they look gassed, their role players are not dependable anymore and they're battling tons of injuries. But it'd be a stretch to say that I expect a Rockets-Warriors series to be like the Spurs-Heat in 2014. This thing is going 7 games.
its going to be a sweep even if worriers are at full strenght... saved this post you heard it here first
So you throw atrocious a big word , and say i'm illiterate, please elaborate on your findings. All i said was they remind me of decade ago Celtics.
Very similar record, but that's about it. They had a big three. With way more experience, I believe. That Celtics team was known as a defensive team and not the offensive juggernaut that "brainchild" Money Morey wipped up in a Toyota Center laboratory. This Rockets team has the right combination of youth and experience. Our defense has been good compared to the previous three seasons, but nothing like the 08' Celtics played.
Well if you look at the 07-08 roster. https://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/BOS/2008.html I see tons of offense hehe. Posey and sam cassell?
To compare the 08 Celtics defense to our offense seems fair enough, both were game-breakingly good. As for more expirenced? None of the big 3 made the finals before 08.
First off atrocious is not big at all. I only said that because that was just the laziest post ever. It's not that your are illiterate, I never said that or claimed that, it's all the non-capitalization shorting of words because you don't feel like proof reading and typing it fully. I mean this thread title could be interpreted many ways. By the way, 08' ain't old Celtics.
Kind of ......this is where the experience comes in. Posey and Cassell would help were they could but they were far from their prime form by that time, but because of the Celtics defensive they didn't need to be at their peak. Don't forget Rondo was on the squad so technically it was a big 4, Rondo was good then.
Exactly lol I thought OP was talking about the Bird era Celtics and was struggling to make the connection - very different team.
The 2008 celtics seem to be the best parallel for this team. A masterful set of moves by the GM pairing disgruntled superstars (whom happened to be analytics darlings as well). None of the big 3 had made the finals but that didn't stop them from bulldozing through the regular season and making it through the playoffs (even though LeBron scared the **** out of them by taking them to 7 in the semis). Boston had the #10 offense and #1 defense, headed by the best defensive player of the decade. Houston has the #1 offense and the #9 defense, headed by the best offensive player of the decade. Both teams were old as hell, with a 3 year window of contention at most.
There are many teams that I could compare this year's Rockets to, the 2008 Celtics are not one of them.
