The Freak going 15th in a draft that Anthony Bennett went 1st overall will forever go down as the most mind boggling thing I have ever seen. 14 teams saw a guy that can almost touch the rim without jumping and the mobility of a guard, and didn't think he would develop into an impact player. I just can't for the life of me see what these guys were watching? Were they just overthinking it that damn much? Even if you had to waste a development year or 2, this s**t was too obvious.
His younger brother Kostas has declared for the 2018 draft, without signing with a agent so far. It will be interesting to see if he can be a success in the NBA after a few years, despite his injury history. Giannis should encourage Kostas to stay in college for another year.
This makes me confident that we would have come out with a star from that offseason, Harden trade or not.
Easier to see in hindsight. Greek freak was raw and athletic like Larry Sanders. Didn't have much training either. Who knew Capela would grow this much in his third year?
At least Bennett was parlayed into Kevin Love and a championship. The 76ers ended up with Nerlens Noel and Michael Carter Williams.
I was high on Giannis based on what I saw, but did not think he would be a star. I was hoping he would be a great defender and transition scorer and didn't expect much more. Anyone who says they predicted this type of growth is full of it. He was raw and couldn't shoot but clearly brimming with potential. But more times than not, guys like him are busts.
I thought Donatas Motiejunas was going to be the next Chris Bosh so I can’t say I’d make a good GM lol
