in Philly on Friday. I know it won't but I wish it would happen here.

Barkley's eyes watered as his No. 34 jersey was lifted to the rafters during halftime. Barkley, 38, becomes the seventh player in 76ers history to have his number retired, joining the ranks of Wilt Chamberlain and Julius Erving.

"This is one of the greatest nights of my life and I'm honored to share it with you," Barkley said. "Philadelphia will always be a special place for me. It's where my career started and where it ended."

BTW, Barkely said he'd go into the Hall as a 76er.

Why won't Houston retire his jersey?

What???? Are you smoking crack tonight???

Houston won't retire his jersey because the big fat tub of goo named Barkley did not work out like he was supposed to and alienated a player with a championship ring- Clyde Drexler. Philly can have him. We would have been better off if we never traded for that lazy and fat drunk. Just my humble opinion.

Barkley was disappointing, but he did a great job of getting Houston coverage and attention from the media. He was also a big leader for Francis and Mobley. He was one of the most popular players on the Rockets. I didn't care for his style of play, but he did a good job.
It would be nice to add another top-50 to the rafters in the Summit.

Practice-work ethic aside, Chuck is awesome. His jersey should be retired here in Houston.

We will have two. One within a couple years and another within two decades.

Barkley beat Seattle in the 1997 Playoffs...something Kenny, Hakeem, Horry, Glide could not do.

    Enough said.

Barkley is one of the greatest palyers to ever play on the rockets so yes i think they need to retire his jersey. and people that bash him etc.. need to remember that he turned down a lot of moeny to return to houston cheaply..

But he needs to remember that his career did not end in philly!

The Rockets should not retire Barkley's jersey, considering they never retired Elvin Hayes. The first 4 years he was with the Rockets, his stats dwarfed Barkley's Rocket stats.

What did Clyde do to deserve his jersey being retired? Played 2 years and helped win a championship??

When do we retire Cassell's and Horry's jersey if that's the case? Elie?? The biggest reason Clyde's jersey was retired is because of his hometown roots and it made the team look good.

What did Barkley do to get his jersey retired by the Rockets?

Hell, I rather see Kenny Smiths's!
