"It seemed tough, but with guidance from Steve Francis, I learned my true destiny. That destiny is to play for the Houston Rockets, to bring them back to championship glory. One big man is all they need, and I believe I can fill that void. Thanks to the loyal fans in Sacramento, but Houston, Texas is where I belong."

Hey Tybrave! What is happening? The first thing I would change on the Rockets would be the names on the back of the uniforms. I would strip off all the last names and replace them with

    <font size=4 font color=red>MAYBE, MAYBE NO?</font>

    GRAMMER LESSON:

Today's lesson will cover the proper use of the ellipsis. Whenever you wish to omit a word, a phase, a sentence, from a quoted passage, you use the ellipsis to do so. For example, "These...times...try men's souls" or "these are the times that try men's...." with an extra period to indicate the end of the sentence.

There is really no reason to use an ellipsis if you are say something yourself. Unless, of course, you want to muzzle your own words. Some of us, I know, use the ellipsis to indicate that the conclusion of the subject is in the thread itself, which is fine. But the ellipsis cannot be substituted for a period!

That will be all for today class, carry on.... [IMG]

    GRAMMAR! Am I right?

Also, the singular form is ellipse, therefore the plural should be ellipses, not ellipsIs. [IMG]

    TPL,

You are wrong here. Look up the word again. [IMG] Also, the comma between the word "ellipses" and the word "therefore" is a comma splice. [IMG]

If the word you were talking about meant a plane curve, then you would be right, but you're using the literary ellipse, which means the plural form of the word should be ellipses I believe [IMG]

    I always forget my commas

I propose that all posts be graded by an English teacher, and all grades be posted at the end of each month. Anybody with a D or F should have to post rough draft first to a grammar commitee before a final post can be published.

I nominate my 8th grade English teacher, Mr. Goddard, to be the judge. In the event Mr. Goddard is dead (I was in 8th grade a long time ago), TPL should choose a teacher.

Whatever TPL, you should really look the word up. You are also mispelling the singular use of the word, which is the version I used. I suggest you grab a dictionary.

But hey, this post was all in fun. I violate grammar all the time. [IMG] [IMG]
