If you thought this team was going to be any better that it is right now. This team is 3 games over .500, better than 18 other teams in the NBA.

We're 23 games into the season and sitting in the 8th spot in the West. Why would you think it would be any different??

the point guard play has been horrible. Steve is a great player, but he's not a great point guard. If the offense is supposed to go through Yao...why is he only getting 7 touches(last night). Now I understand some of this has to do with Yao not being aggressive enough.....but it also has to do with the guards walking the ball up the court and wasting 10-15 seconds before getting into the offense.

Van Gundy has said all along that this team is not very good.....and until they buy into his system and start playing like professionals they are going to continue to be mediocre at best.

    Talk amongst yourselves

It is disappointing to watch them struggle. But I thought that it would take atleast half a season for the team to buy into JVG's coaching. Then in the 2nd half, we see what this team can do. It seems most of the team has bought into the defensive part, but offensively, they are clueless at this point.

Just what didn't they buy into? A perfectly executed JVG offense.

I agree, but dont count his 7 ATTEMPTS as touches...he got countless touches, but failed to do anything with them, therefore only getting off 7 attempts

Didn't TheFreak say one day last week how he loved that some threads have this little saying in them to try to justify their existence??:p

Seriously, you are preaching to the choir, SKJ, on this. Well, I should say most of the choir as we still have some people here in denial that feel this current Rocket team can do no wrong. But I think they are getting thinner and thinner all the time.

Dang. I don't have you on ignore, but I skip your posts if I notice your UID. I didn't notice on this one. You are a one-trick pony. Are you trying to get your post count up or something? Is there anyone on this board that doesn't know your position on JVG?

Give it a rest. This is a really stupid post amongst a littany of stupid posts.

    pippendagimp-

Thank You...I would, but I do work and don't have time to read all the ridiculous trade, and "How horrible" we are posts after every game. this place used to be fun(I was a long time lurker)

    Manny-

Judging from the titles of just about every other post, I hardly think I'm preaching to the choir....or is it congregation?

I just think people need to not fly off the handle after every set-back. I just think it's the way we;re losing that gets people all worked up.
It is frustrating, but I'm willing to give a little more time.

I agree with the initial premise of the rox not being that good and some were overestimating what they should accomplish ...

but after so many years of the same mistakes being repeated by the same players ad nauseum ... the "give it more time" mantra loses it's luster.

    Great post SKJ, keep up.
Guards need to read the game corretly. Same kind of guard play often can be seen in these teams that will never be good.
Yao needs to be more determined, play more aggressively. Also I think he looks tired out there. Maybe we can bench him for a week or so, put him in dog house, whatever works.
Season is far from being over, it's a process.

Agreed.....but you can't discount the coach is still trying to put his gameplan in effect....not Rudy's.

It;s obvious the players aren't adjusting to JVG.....They're still running the same one-on-one style they have been for the past 5 years. These guys(the players) should be willing to try ANYTHING to get better and it doesn't seem like they are doing that.

Si, si, I really have no problem with the coaching right now. I didn't have a big issue with what Rudy did either, though I thought some major change had to be made and really didn't want to give up on the players at that point. If we get rid of JVG we will not find any coach significantly better than him. If JVG and Rudy T cannot get these players to execute winning basketball, a retread coach sure isn't going to.

At some point the players have to be blamed and broken up. If they can't function together as a team, bring in some players who can. I'm not saying now is the time, just that I would consider jettisoning players before yet another good coach. If we fall short of the playoffs again because of the same faults then its time. Though I would not be overly dissappointed if a deal was made before then(unless CD decides to one up the Meech trade).
