ClutchFans Game Thread: Celtics @ Rockets 3/3/2018

As an organization the Rockets have some legendary ex players still being around the organization at games. That is awesome to see at games!

 

This was always a winnable game due to the pace and score running into the 100s. Although with us being clutch this year and defense, any type of game seems winnable

 

As I watched the game last night, I had several "eye-test" observations. Man, they're shooting 90% from 3. Their big lineup is killing us on the boards, especially on offense. Harden & Paul aren't up-to-snuff. WOW, We were really lucky to pull it out at the end. This morning, I was watching bspn & they pointed out that Harden & Paul had 17 assists, but non were to each other! Oh really!?! So I decided to check the box score.

Yes they made 5 more baskets on 4 more shots (48.4% to our 44.8%) & shot 54.2% from 3. But we made 6 more 3's because we doubled their 3 pt shots (38.8%). We actually out rebounded them (40-38) & had the same # of offensive boards. We had more assists (24-22), steals (10-5), blocks (5-3) and less TO's (9-12). Then, in the last 4 minutes of the game, you take into account lockdown D, Ariza's trey-steal-layup, EGO's hot hand, a 12-2 run & MDA's decision to foul when we're up 3 (where da fire truck did that come from!?! ); what you get is a 3 pt win that seems like a runaway in the last 4 minutes.

It's a good time to be a rockets fan!

Joe Johnson in the post vs Rozier. 1:02 left in the first quarter.

Rozier panicked as soon as Joe got the ball. Celtics had Greg Monroe come across the paint to take Joe
Johnson. Celtics were prepared for it. Rockets will be ready to counter if we meet in the finals.

 

We get it, you're not a fan of the Rockets and you think you're objective. You're not objective. That's the bad news. The good news is that your "objectivity" would be most welcome on the fan site of whatever team you cheer for! So go! Fly like the wind! Go to the ones that embrace your opinions!

 

I’ve seen Ariza get crazy about what his teammates have done but I don’t I’ve ever seen him this fired up about one of his own plays....

This is really starting to believe IT..... I also think they are starting to understand that they need the crowd at Toyota center too.....

I won't talk about the play anymore though. But let's just say I disagree about it being unrealistic.

 

Horford on the baby hook had very deep position.

You expecting a 6'5 point guard to body up and move a 6'10 Center/Power Forward is very unrealistic. Especially a skilled one like Horford. Come on dude. In this freaking game you're going to win some as well as lose some.

That like expecting Horford to guard Harden on the perimeter. Not going happen buddy and you should know this. He might win a few of those but on an island by himself, Harden will destroy his ankles.

we win and okc lose...it's beautiful...they need only one game in loss column to fall to that 9th place in the west.

And what is with you and all the straw-manning? Anytime someone doesn't give Harden cyber fellatio you accuse them of saying he is literally terrible when no one says anything of the sort.

 

We got to be a top 10 defense through mindless switching - did you watch us before then? You have to switch. It wasn't pretty but give guys like Horford some credit - there's a reason Morey tried to bring him here.

Dude that is the game now. Hahaha every team switches on the PnR. Especially our very own Houston Rockets. Shoots Chris Paul always ends up the opposing team' big. Our offense is predicated on taking full advantage of the mismatches off the PnR. We forces teams to switch.

Have you seen any team CONSISTENTLY stop our offense yet? Heck no

Marcus Smart was running the high pick and roll. Not Stephen Curry or Damian Lillard. You go under the screen if anything. It mystifies me they treated him like he was a good live dribble shooter all game.


If Harden made one real effort to get over the screen he wouldn't have been in position to allow Horford to take easy shots at the rim. But that's where my accusation of laziness comes in.

I guarantee you the elite defenses are not giving up a bad switch that easily. Especially when the game is on the line.

 

They have a top ten defense in spite of it. The only excuse for such a lazy strategy is to not want overexertion during the season fighting over screens all year.

What??? Boston is considered as one of the elite defensive teams in the NBA and we just bust that ash for 123 points. Golden State is considered to be a top notch defensive team and we've put up well over 110+ on them.
