Even though Harden and CP3 were not that good, the Rockets won. It kind of shows you how important the team is. Morey was always obsessed about getting superstars, but I think having a great team is important. Quite frankly we have great team outside of Harden and CP3. Gorden, Ariza, Capela, Luc they all make big shots.
This is a CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM. Beating another finals contender with your two best players having mediocre games shows you how good Rockets are
One of the best teams in the last decade, but still going to lose to Warriors. Unfortunate there is GOAT team at the same time.
It's not all about the box score. Harden took so many contested stepback 3s down the stretch that completely killed momentum and the crowd. I get that stepbacks are his signature moves, but when they aren't falling, do something else to help your team win.
We gave up a lot to get Chris Paul. But we did that to seal the deal early, so we could use free agency to sign guys who fit with Harden and CP. A lot of thought went into those additions, about rounding out the team and picking guys who could work together. It's paying off now.
He drove several times also. He just didn't happen to hit those 3's this game. Fortunately his team had his back, namely Gordon and Ariza with great games.
Harden did a lot on the court. Very pleased with his awareness on D for those 5 steals. No matter how you slice it: Harden was a +21 in 38 minutes Rockets were -18 in the 10 minutes when he rested
The title of the thread reminded me of a scary movie...with that being said our team is scary good, aren’t they.
I’m not saying he had a good game or made perfect choices. I’m saying we hold him to a very high standard, saying pretty horrible things on just “mildly under-average” games.
If D’Antoni is not going to force a switch for Joe Johnson to go against Kyrie or Rozier Then you might as well play Gerald Green instead. The Celtics are too athletic, fast, and strong at wing for Iso Joe. Tough to out muscle Smart, J Brown and Morris in the post....and they seem quicker than Joe against his iso. Worth trying again in a finals matchup; But have a short leash on that. Green can run with those turkeys.
Of course. How many finals do the lakers not make it too if it wasn't for big shots by horry and fisher
Exactly. I made that argument this summer when everyone were harping on Melo and I thought it would be a mistake if it meant to deplete our rotation. Depth is a must in the modern game. Top talent wins, but it cant last without a great supporting team.
