you know honestly this might be the easiest way to do this . . . I can already project the thing in good quality onto a classroom screen, it would only take the time to film it with a steady hand or tripod. thanks for the idea

I was assuming that's how the YouTube version was done, which would explain the over-exposed looking sketch book scenes.

But definitely worth trying since so easy and cost-free

yep, this is currently my working plan, I just got off the phone with @don grahamleone , if the camera filming plan doesn't yield an adequate copy he has generously offered to help me it clean up, so I've at least got a starting point now.

Really appreciate all the responses in this thread. thanks guys.

is this possible? absolutely. in 2005 i converted/ripped several vhs disney films for my boss and put them on to dvd so his kids could watch.

    you'll need

    1) a VHS player
    2) a macrovision decoder
    3) a computer with a capture card
    4) dvd burning software

the only thing I'm fuzzy about here is the macrovision decoder--is it something like the Grex unit on amazon?

on edit, something weird happened to the amazon link. here's the Grex info: http://www.xdimax.com/grex/grex.html

that is very similar to the device i used and should do the trick. $89 seems a little higher but that could be for a variety of reasons.

Right, I think you'll be just fine with the Mac.

Definitely let us know how it turns out

You’re welcome. Images on a projected screen typically has much lower brightness and contrast than TV, but may work fine. Definitely tripod.

I converted lot of home video just using a capture card.

MIght want to find something newer than this one. The drivers might not work well for Win 10. But it's pretty easy. just connect the VCR with the RCA cables to the attachment on the capture card and it'll play on your computer. Hit record. It's just time consuming because it records at normal speed so you have to watch it all.
