Yes I've played organized sports. The pump me up talk is internal, locker room stuff that works ok. Depends on the personality. The post game stuff - professionally in the media, amateur just throughout the week, or when on the sideline at a pick up game - has little correlation to whether or not you'd win the game. Professionally... almost no correlation, as it's statistically impossible - one team loses every game
