I see your point but those guys got deals either: 1. During a time when the salary cap rose like no other 2. Because they were thought to be the franchise player...or at least the 2nd best player on the team 3. Both I think with the salary cap plateauing the availability to have cap room to sign a player like Clint to a max contract is very limited. Of course it only takes one idiot GM to prove me wrong but I don't see the teams with cap room this summer clamoring to sign Capela to a $20+ mill/year deal.
all FA's/extended at opportune times where $ was easily spent. thats not the case for capella unfortunately
Agreed. Lebron, Cousins, George, Kawhi, Butler, Thompson, Love, are all free agents between this summer and the next one, the Lakers can open up two max slots, they'll not use one of them for Capela unless they're totally dumb or they already know they have no chance to get those names.
The scary thing is that when Lakers are unable to land a Big Fish (highly likely) this summer, they will give Capela 2 year deal at 56 million (with team option). How can Rockets match the offer sheet? 6 teams with major cap space this summer seem like they will use upgrades at center: Lakers, Bulls, Dallas (assuming Noel is out), Phoenix (not sure if they plan on playing Chriss and Booker as the 4/5 going forward), and Brooklyn (probably depends a lot on how they feel about Jarett Allen) and Clippers (if Jordan is out and dump small expiring contracts. Capela 27 million would mean that Rockets lose Ariza and 4 solid FA benches. Current contracts + Paul Supermax + Capela 27 million = at least 200 million salary/ tax
Guess what- then Capela will be a laker competing for nothing and we will plug the hole - after all, he's no Hakeem- Sincerely, Shaq O'Neil.
Do you want Noah to help Capela? He will be bought out soon. If Joakim Noah agrees upon a buyout from the New York Knicks before the deadline to become playoff eligible, he is expected to receive interest from a number of contending teams. Noah remains away from the Knicks following a January altercation at practice with Jeff Hornacek. Hornacek pushed Noah and Noah pushed him back before the two were separated.
Doubt Noah will be bought out this season, he is not willing to give any money back to Knicks. This has been real sticking point as to reason he's still on team.
Basically you are saying something like this, No team wants Ryan Anderson's contract, This has been real sticking point as to reason he's still on team.
Past market does not dictate future market. It is all relative. You can't look at the 2016 market, or as the industry calls them, "the spikers", as a basis for the 2018 market.
My Most major concern is that he will be packaged with Anderson If LEbron wants 35 Million next year Sign and Trade of Anderson, Capela + Picks would start Clevelands interest Shoot If Cavs want to start a true rebuild Capela, Anderson, Ego + Picks for Love and LeBron Rocket River
Since Rockets have zero threat due to zero cap space, Cavs will include Thompson and JR Smith in the deal and Ryan goes to 3rd team exactly like Melo rumor. .(no way Cavs will take Ryan) 76ers offer for LeBron and Love: Markelle Fultz Redick Robert Covington Amir Johnson Trevor Booker Dario Saric
You keep posting absolute nonsense. You keep talking about things like cap space and the cba which you don’t understand. Your for sure way over your head in discussing a topic many around here are very knowledgeable on. Sit back and read fam
Exactly, if Ryno is 20M Rynosaur, then Capela is 30M Dynosaur. Cap is 101 million Rynosaur + Dynosaur.= 50 million
I agree that he is most valuable to us with our elite PNR ball handlers, but all it takes is one team to lose their minds.
Man if clint was a FA two years ago or even last year coming off this seasons production I would say he’s a no brainer to receive a 4/100m deal from someone, possibly even the rockets. But this summer is the first year we’re teams are having to function like it was 4-5 years ago. We’re like 4-5 teams have max space and there all very bad teams with holes everywhere. Clint is very good, And while he does benefit a lot playing with Harden and cp3 he’s also only playing 25 min a game. Put Clint on Washington for example or even Milwaukee and he’d be playing 33+ mpg and putting up 18/12/2 numbers and playing in the eastern conference allstar team. Clint is overrated by some here and underrated by some here but he’s forsure a top flight center. Only embiid, Towns and cousins are hands down better than him. After that Clint is right there with the next group. Guys like Adams, Gobert, gasol whiteside and Jordan. Gasol is the most complete but he’s old and personally imo washed up. Gobert is highly overrated imo so that’s leaves the other guys I named in whiteside, Adams and Jordan. Sure if you like those guys more than Clint that’s fine you can def make the case for that. But I can also make the case that Clint is better than them. One thing that Clint is head and shoulders better than any center in the league at is switching. He has the length speed and agility to stay with guards for short spurts. And the rest rockets are 29-1 with him Harden and cp3 in the lineup. That’s to big a sample to call it a fluke. You just don’t mess that up imo. We might have locked out with Clint’s FAs because we’re prob going to be bidding against ourselves only. Clint is going to have to take the 4yr 70m contract imo and thats a great number for us and him to stay in an ideal situation. He’d get to hit FAs again by age 27 so he could cash in big atleast one more time.
Quality post! I give you Grade A-. His market value is a little more than 4 years 70M because he is a restricted FA. Restricted FA = crazy overpaid offer sheet, They want the home team to feel very painful if they match the offer. Highly likely: All 3 fa stars stay with the home teams. .
