Well, to be perfectly honest, she has made a 360 degree turn in broadcasting skills since the season started.
I agree with this statement 100%! I got to quite a few games, and hearing that guy and the drummers sends chills up my back. I try to sit in my seat before the game, then when the intro starts I go to get a drink and/or food. Pugs
I agree with everything that you said, but I just wanted to point out that the Rockets is NOT the only team in the league with a "cheerleading-PA announcer." Whenever Houston played the New Orleans Hornets, I remember hearing "DEFENSE!" numerous times from the PA announcer.
I always find it funny on ESPN when Greg Anthony and Tim Legler are on either on NBA fastbreak or during the pre-game/half time shows and are asked about their intake on a team, or a player and it always starts... "Without question!" Then why the **** did they ask you a question? I swear it's almost everytime they say it too. Side commentator: What's your take on the Los Angeles Lakers Greg? Greg: "Without question the Lakers are blah blah blah!" Side Commentator: And yours Tim? Tim: "Oh I agree with Greg, without question the Lakers are blah blah blah" Side commentator: Lets talk about Lebron James and his game against Camelo and the Nuggets! Tim: Without question Lebron is blah blah blah, but Carmelo is blash blah blah too! Without question! Without question! Greg: Naw without question, Carmelo is blah blah blah but Lebron James without question is blah blah blah too. Side commentator: Thanks guy for the marvelous input! Greg & Tim: Without question, it was no problem at all sharing out input! Without question!
Greg Anthony says "without question" because he uses that split second of time to gather his thoughts. That's what you get when you have a former professional basketball player in the role of a commentator. They need vices to help them. I'd have to admit that Greg Anthony is one of the better former athletes turned commentator that I actually like listening to. Jay Bilas is a good one too. But, you are right. Greg has a few quirks that shows his "amateurism."
Glad I'm not the only one to notice that too. I always crack up when she takes like 3 or 4 seconds to locate the right camera. Especially when it's a shot of her and Jeff. Jeff's looking at the right camera and Coop's just staring off at the other one. Sometimes I think he justs wants to grab her head and turn it to the correct camera. She is horrible.
"Without question" is akin to "Most definately" or as pronounced, "Mo debly". It must be in the interviewing 101 handbook.
I can't believe you guys out there. Cynthia Cooper has achieved more in her lifetime than all of you haters combined. If you don't like her commentary, just mute the television when she comes on. Its sad seeing a bunch of losers hating on someone as succesfull in life as her.
her basketball success has nothing to do with her being the most embarrassing sports commentator i've ever seen.
My favorite quote from Bill Worell was a few games ago. After many turnovers by Mr. turnover himself (Stevie, me me me, Franchise), Bill said "And Steve throws the ball to no one in particular". I think that ball was thrown towards the Rockets bench.
Hmmm... Forgive me, then, for pointing out how successful she is on TV: with a basketball in her hand. Forfgive me, then, for pointing our how unsuccessful she will be on TV: with a microphone in her hand. How about learning how to do something before you "try out"?
I think Cynthia is the best female BBall player of all time. Heck, if she was bigger I think she might be able to hang with the males. BUT, she is an awful commentator. In fact, sadly, TV sports commentating is at its lowest point ever. Radio is where its at.
