I received a parking ticket approx 3 years ago just before I moved from Houston. I forgot about it, and now I have a law firm {aka: collection agency} calling me saying I need to send them a money order since the ticket was turned over to them. I asked for some type of fax or letter stating what they wanted but simply told me to send them the money. It sounds a bit fishy and I was wondering if anyone has experience on how to deal with a late ticket. I am moving back to Houston in Jan and want to get this resolved before I go get a new license.......any onfo would be appreciated.

They have to show proof that the debt was handed over to them for collection. You can call the city that you got the ticket from and they could verify if they turn your citation over for collections and to whom they turned it over to. You may also still be able to pay the city directly if you are uncomfortable paying the collection agency, but not always. You need to do something though cause it will show up on a credit report as unpaid debt if you don't now that the collection agency has it.
