Simple opinion poll How many of you think the Rockets will make a major trade, minor trade, or no trade at all before the trade deadline?
Now that we've hit December 15th---well, about to---many players can be traded (those who signed contracts in the summer). So, we should see some trades. As for the Rockets, I don't want a trade just for the sake of trade. But we legitimately need a shakeup of some kind.
as much as i like nachbar, and would hate to see him get traded(i just spend like 250 dollars on a nachbar original jersey) he might be a candidate cuz he is getting no pt and he is a sf, the most overcrowded position we have.
A small Ripple in the Rockets pond . Houston trades: John Amaechi ( ppg, rpg, apg in minutes) PG Moochie Norris (2.9 ppg, 1.1 rpg, 2.2 apg in 15.0 minutes) C Kelvin Cato (5.9 ppg, 8.7 rpg, 0.7 apg in 29.0 minutes) Houston receives: PG Jeff McInnis (11.8 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 4.8 apg in 29.8 minutes) SG Ruben Patterson (4.9 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 0.9 apg in 20.1 minutes) C Dale Davis (6.6 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 1.3 apg in 30.4 minutes) Change in team outlook: +14.5 ppg, +3.2 rpg, and +4.1 apg. Portland trades: PG Jeff McInnis (11.8 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 4.8 apg in 29.8 minutes) SG Ruben Patterson (4.9 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 0.9 apg in 20.1 minutes) C Dale Davis (6.6 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 1.3 apg in 30.4 minutes) Portland receives: John Amaechi ( ppg, rpg, apg in games) PG Moochie Norris (2.9 ppg, 1.1 rpg, 2.2 apg in 17 games) C Kelvin Cato (5.9 ppg, 8.7 rpg, 0.7 apg in 17 games) Change in team outlook: -14.5 ppg, -3.2 rpg, and -4.1 apg. TRADE ACCEPTED Portland wants to clean up its image. We take on one of their trouble makers for our Salary cap garbage.
MLC1MGC2ALC3 Do you actually every try to think of reasons why the OTHER team would do the trades that you propose?? You talk about Portland ridding themselves of troubled players, since when are Davis and McGinnis players that fall into this category??? Do you really think Portland gives 2 good citizens up just to get rid of 1?? And why do Amaechi and Moo have any value whatsover to them??? I think we can agree that they don't, and that leaves Cato for McGinnis Patterson and Davis. VERY lopsided and this does not improve Portland's team at all. Try thinking your trades out for once instead of posting the first "Trade Accepted" combination that pops up. You might be taken more seriously.
Ok Ok This is more realistic ! Houston trades: C Kelvin Cato (5.9 ppg, 8.7 rpg, 0.7 apg in 29.0 minutes) Houston receives: SG Ruben Patterson (4.9 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 0.9 apg in 20.1 minutes) PG Jeff McInnis (11.8 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 4.8 apg in 29.8 minutes) Change in team outlook: +10.8 ppg, -2.7 rpg, and +5.0 apg. Portland trades: SG Ruben Patterson (4.9 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 0.9 apg in 20.1 minutes) PG Jeff McInnis (11.8 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 4.8 apg in 29.8 minutes) Portland receives: C Kelvin Cato (5.9 ppg, 8.7 rpg, 0.7 apg in 17 games) Change in team outlook: -10.8 ppg, +2.7 rpg, and -5.0 apg. TRADE ACCEPTED Hey, I'm a Houston Homer !
Still unrealistic. Portland's strength, is its front line of Sheed, Zach and Davis. Is Cato even good enough to beat out Davis at the C spot?? If so, does that improve their team, considering they just lost Patterson, a solid backup swingman, and McGinnis, who is currently their starting SG and normally, their backup 3rd guard?? Not to mention, the fact that this trade does the same thing to our team. It gives us a backup 1, but Patterson is not much of an upgrade over Pike and/or A.Griffin (when he comes back) and your trade leaves us with Mo at the 4 spot and no big man depth off the bench.
Given the same minutes that Cato gets, Alton Ford should be able to fill the backup PF position behind Mo. This is JVG type trade both Patterson & McGinnus would improve our D. & be high energy guys off the bench. Cato is insurence for Portland , in case Wallace gets out of hand. Big men are always over valued any how.
How is Cato insurance for Wallace?? Wallace is playing the SF spot this year. If he is gone, then Cato does nothing to fill this loss, as neither he, nor Randolph can play the 3. Sorry, but if this team is going to depend on Alton Ford to be the primary backup 4/5, then we are in serious trouble. And I again ask, after conceeding that McGinnis would be an upgrade for us off th bench, how can Patterson be justified as an upgrade over Pike/A. Griffin, to the point of giving up much needed depth (Cato) at the 4/5 spot??
Good point about back up C. Now plan #3. Houston trades: PF Maurice Taylor (10.2 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 1.1 apg in 24.4 minutes) Houston receives: SG Ruben Patterson (4.9 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 0.9 apg in 20.1 minutes) PG Jeff McInnis (11.8 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 4.8 apg in 29.8 minutes) Change in team outlook: +6.5 ppg, +1.8 rpg, and +4.6 apg. Portland trades: SG Ruben Patterson (4.9 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 0.9 apg in 20.1 minutes) PG Jeff McInnis (11.8 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 4.8 apg in 29.8 minutes) Portland receives: PF Maurice Taylor (10.2 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 1.1 apg in 11 games) Change in team outlook: -6.5 ppg, -1.8 rpg, and -4.6 apg. TRADE ACCEPTED Alton Ford backs up Cato. New LineUp: Yao / Cato Cato / Ford Patterson / JJ Steve / Cat McInnus / Moochie
You are still making the assumption that Alton Ford is a capable backup 4. Quite frankly, in the WC, we need a proven backup bigman rather than a proven backup PG. You are giving up from a position where we can't afford to lose what little we have and adding to a position that is deep (how much time is McInnis going to take from Steve, Cat or JJ and where does this leave time for guys like Pike and/or A. Griffin who Patterson may not necessarily be better than???).
I hope that we go for Tinsley. We badly need a PG. If we want to change our PF, i hope we gor either B. Grant / Rasheed
Tinsley does not appear to be JVG's ideal PG. He had made comments recently that have pretty much eliminated players like Tinsley from Rocket PG consideration.
I'm going to stick my neck out...no trades until after the Charlotte expansion draft. Some obscure facts of the expansion draft... * Charlotte can take as many as 29 players (minimum of 14 with a max of up to 1 from each team). * If a restricted free agent is left unprotected, the Bobcats can draft him. However, that player would then become an unrestricted free agent - with no obligation to play for the Bobcats. I see these combination of facts contributing to large scale player movements next summer. By virtue of the Trade Exception, the Rockets could be major players if they decide to make large scale changes. And personally, I just don't see JVG as the type to not give a players a whole season to prove themselves.
I hope there is a major trade with NY that will bring in kurt thomas, charlie ward.... Ideally, it will involve francis too.
Houston trades: PG Moochie Norris (2.9 ppg, 1.1 rpg, 2.2 apg in 15.0 minutes) SG Cuttino Mobley (16.8 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 3.1 apg in 40.8 minutes) Houston receives: C Kurt Thomas (11.7 ppg, 10.5 rpg, 2.3 apg in 35.5 minutes) PG Charlie Ward (9.6 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 5.7 apg in 27.1 minutes) Change in team outlook: +1.6 ppg, +8.6 rpg, and +2.7 apg. New York trades: C Kurt Thomas (11.7 ppg, 10.5 rpg, 2.3 apg in 35.5 minutes) PG Charlie Ward (9.6 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 5.7 apg in 27.1 minutes) New York receives: PG Moochie Norris (2.9 ppg, 1.1 rpg, 2.2 apg in 17 games) SG Cuttino Mobley (16.8 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 3.1 apg in 17 games) Change in team outlook: -1.6 ppg, -8.6 rpg, and -2.7 apg. TRADE ACCEPTED Moochie Must be Moved !!!!
