    David Aldrige's article here :

Sorry if this has already been mentioned or linked.

Someone mentioned a while ago that Rudy is only looking into coaching with the warm weather teams... but the Magic?

Rudy just got done trying to rebuild a lottery team. I don't think he'd jump into coaching another one. I hope he gets a job somewhere with some vets, I use to love watching the expressions Rudy would make when he coached on the sidelines. :D

Its almost impossible to imagine Rudy doing anything with any other team than the Rox.

I wish the best for Rudy but its going to be hard watching him on another sideline, especially lifting his arms up in the air going "HOW SWEET IT IS!" as someone in a non-Rox uniform swishes a clutch shot.

Do you think coaching positions open up on winning teams?

some examples off the top of my head (I remember the teams, had to look up the actual numbers):

What was our record last year? 43-39
What was Milwaukee's record when George Karl left? 42-40

What was the Lakers' record before Phil Jackson got hired? 31-19

What was Seattle's record when Karl left? 61-21

    those were winning teams.

and to add one more to that...Suns replaced their coach after a winning season.(44-38) They still have basically the same team of vets, with a couple of youngsters.
Sure, they are doing badly so far this year...but the team has the personnel to have a winning record.

I'll add that Detroit fired Carlisle after a very successful season last year.

SRF, yeah he just finished trying to build in a lotto team and not making it to the playoffs. But, he also absolutely loved it. He was always talking about how the young guys gave him a new lease on life and how much fun it was working with them. I think he'd love to go coach another young team.

I agree with Oldman, that Rudy coaching Orlando somehow feels right. They're a young team with some good parts and just need some good leadership that Rudy could provide.

Orlando's a team that went to the playoffs last year and has an absolutely incredible young superstar in McGrady. They're off to a brutal start, so expectations are low. And they play in the Leastern conference, where any decent team can make the postseason. Seems like a great situation for a coach to move into, to me. Go Rudy!

I could see Rudy coaching Portland. Maybe Steve Patterson would push for him. But I would only wish this on him if Portland gets smart and lets Rasheed walk this summer.

This is also if Portland lets Mo Cheeks walk (which would be a mistake, IMO).

I also tend to think Rudy would be a better fit in Orlando. Plus, then the chances are slimmer that we'd have to eliminate him from the postseason on the way to the championship.
