According to NBA.com stats, Joe Johnson this year is shooting 47.5%(30/63) on mid-range shots. He's not CP3 (51.8% on 112 attempts), but that would make him by far the second best mid-range shooter on the team. In comparison, Carmelo Anthony is shooting an abysmal 39% from midrange on an unwarranted 351 mid-range attempts.
Umm... what? Are you high? So first, we could unload Anderson, just NOT IN A WAY THAT WON'T HURT OUR TEAM and that is something we clearly do not want to do. Brendan Wright is a solid roll man and decent defender. His problem is that he is a bit injury prone. Joe Johnson is fine. After his shooting wrist recovered, he was much better. He is definitely an upgrade over Troy Williams who has not done a damn thing in this league to show he is worth more than a pile of doodoo. Now onto your three things that are even more ridiculously stupid than the way you opened your post... You are b****ing about us getting CP3 and what we gave up? Really? First of all, Lou Williams is 31 going on 32. CP3 is a little over one year older than him. Why are you trying to act like Lou is some young player in comparison? As for Lou Williams being a future all-star? Are we living in bizzaro world now? Lou Williams has been in the league for 14 seasons now. He has never been an all-star in those 14 seasons, not even close and now you are expecting him to be a future all-star in the twilight years of his career? Child, please! Now, back to CP3. Our secondary unit DOMINATES opposing teams, because CP3 runs the show then when Harden sits. Instead of our offense going to complete **** when Harden is resting and Ego struggles to create, we have still the best pure PG playmaking out there. Ever wonder why we are 41-13 and 2nd best in the entire league right now? It's because CP3 is on our team you numb nuts! Next Joe Johnson. He was injured when he was playing like complete garbage. Once his shooting wrist recovered, he improved significantly. Also, keep in mind that we are NOT signing him to replace Ariza or Luc or Tucker. We are signing him for depth to destroy the other team during garbage minutes, something he is more than capable of. Troy Williams, are you ****ing kidding me? We are talking about contending for championships and you are talking about Troy ****ing Williams. Are you out of your ****ing mind? At least Gerald Green has significantly contributed during the brightest stages of the league. Get the **** out of here with this ****! The only thing I don't disagree is about releasing Black. I want us to release Troy Williams. We have absolutely zero place for him on our team right now.
Joe isn't what he was.. not even close. He's been pretty bad this season, overall. But then again, he's been playing for the j*zz. Hopefully he can manage a late-career resurgence now that he's playing on a great team.
I think some of you need to lower your expectations. This is an old Joe Johnson that will likely have a difficult time cracking the lineup. I'm glad we have him for depth. but I don't see him getting significant time unless there is an injury
I like the idea of playing him 10-15mins a night with him getting Ryan or PJ's minutes at the end of games. Less than a year ago he was shooting Steph Curry Percentages from behind the arc for his second year in a row. He is a good defensive player against bigger slower players(PF's).
He can give us things that Ryan and Tucker cannot. We need certain types of threats come playoffs. He doesn't have to be a allstar.
Most of the time when I've watched him play its been in the playoffs and he typically comes through in the clutch for his team so this is def a great pickup IMO. Lets see where he fits in in terms of playing time.
I think it's likely he will look really good again if he gets minutes. Hopefully he will be like Eddie Johnson was for us back in the day.
So happy to see JJ and Wright signing here, this team is so deep right now. Capela, Nene, Black, Wright Anderson, Tucker Luc, Ariza, JJ Harden, Gordon, Green Paul Can't wait for the playoffs.
On this team shot selection is going to be way more important than volume scoring. Combine that with the reports of his B-ball IQ and locker room presence and I say we came out ahead of what I personally thought the team would be had we added Melo as everyone expected going into the season.
He could not play in any regular season games and not play in the first two rounds of the playoffs. Having him Iso/post up on Curry on the switch in the playoffs will be worth every cent we pay him and more Let “elite defender Curry” get wrecked in the post by our secret weapon and then he will be too gassed to run around all those screens with his normal burst
