One thing about (prime) numbers... uh... you never run out. Join now : http://www.mersenne.org/prime.htm
This project is truey meaningless, if you really want to donate your computer to a event that might change the history, go to http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/ and download their screen saver program, it will use the spare power of your computer to analyze the radio telescope data from space in search of extraterrestrial intelligence.
What if they're trying to communicate with us using really big Mersenne primes?! If you truly want to dedicate your computer's spare cycles towards a massive parallel processing endeavor, here's one for a really good cause : help to possibly discover a cure for cancer. If you want a bunch of other parallel processing/distributed computing projects that have been going on for some time, try this link
i think it was born 26 years ago. i thought the primes they used in encryption were more along the lines of a couple hundred digits long. of course that still means this number is meaningless in that sense. on our refrigerator in our dorm, we have this 20 digit prime written out that was the biggest we could find using this one website. don't know why, but it's been up there for about a year.
Wow, it took me two times to read that to realize how incredibly funny, and yet incredibly dorky, that line was. But points to you anyway!
I havn't done this for a long time now. I just reloaded the client on my machine and to my suprise my ID was still active. Maybe now I can get 1000 units processed. I used to belong to a group at work but I don't work there any more. Do you still run this?
