He can still be the primary ballhandler when he's on the court. Idk what else you could want. Someone small to defend other smaller PG's?

The list of potential buyout candidates is pretty good. If we can land one of em we should be set for the season

A point that can run the offense and soak up minutes , they were running Briante Webber earlier in the season ..... his offense was just offensive.

A big forward that is multi faceted , good defender / rebounder , pick and roll capable , pick and pop .... and shoots well at home , maybe eat up some of Anderson's minutes if he's chucking bricks when small ball is not advantageous.

Sounds good. Lucky for you, Joe checks off a lot of things you're looking for.

He's not a primary ball handler , his best years he was a catch and shoot guy coming off of picks , screens , curls and pindowns in Atlanta with a decent point getting him the ball on his spots - NOT initiating the offense or creating for himself or others.

He's never played the big forward spot .... sure as isn't going to play smallball 5.

I could see Allen going to OKC, they have been 2-5 since Roberson went down and their defense has been ****.

    He's a former Shaq teammate

I used to follow the Hawks very closely. None of this is accurate at all.

JJ plays/played nothing like you’re describing. He wasn’t Rip Hamilton coming off of screens all day. Quite the opposite, actually. The biggest complaint about Mike Woodson’s offense was it was uncreative and tailored mainly around the isolation play of JJ. It was a slow, grind-it-out offense that, frankly, was hard to watch sometimes. You got a steady dose of ISO’s while JJ would also PnR with Horford. Josh Smith scored well in transition and on lobs, but was also infamous for his obsession with shooting long 2’s and 3’s. Bibby stood there like a statue. Zaza Pachulia couldn’t catch the ball. Jamal Crawford came off of the bench for more isolation play. It wasn’t pretty.

That said, despite his flaws JJ was Atlanta’s primary scorer, ball handler and wing defender. It wasn’t pretty basketball, but he was the backbone of a team that won and improved every year during their run. Easily one of the most underrated players in the league at the time.

He’s more of a 3/4 these days. Yes, he actually has logged minutes at the 4. This shouldn’t be surprising to anyone around these parts considering our 3/4 rotation consistents of mostly natural 3’s playing smallball 4. JJ is certainly capable of doing that as well.

I'd be down to watch Vince Carter or Iso Joe warm the bench in Houston.

"We're feeling good about potential buyout players," Morey said. "Obviously, we'll see how that materializes over the next few days, but we think there are players who could be available that could help us. We'd be looking for depth. It would be hard to get someone who would play.

"It would be hard for us to get someone as good as Gerald. He's playing extremely well. But there are some solid players, veteran guys who have helped veteran teams in the past, who could be available. We're optimistic about one buyout if not more that maybe would work."

Yeah, I was unsure if we were talking about different Iso Joes. Iso Jesus didn't get his name from playing off ball, thats for sure. From what I remember in his Atlanta days he was the primary ball handler and offense initiator.

Maybe he is thinking of playing off ball with the Suns and Nash.
