Not totally obscure or anything but check out Hell in the Pacific. Lee Marvin, RIP

I still meet a lot of people that haven't seen The Machinist so maybe it's more obscure then I think

Does Gattaca count as an obscure movie? If the IMDB box office numbers are to believed, it would seem like not too many people watched it. I would consider it more of a 'thinking' science fiction movie that's closer to science than fiction.

    Ice Pirates: Yes.
    Krull: Not so much.

As to 80's movies, I'll go with this one. One of the best endings ever.

    Five Deadly Venoms

Five Deadly Venoms is a cult 1978 Hong Kong martial arts film directed by Chang Cheh, starring the Venom Mob, with martial arts choreography by Leung Ting, and produced by the Shaw Brothers Studio, about five kung-fu fighters with unique animal styles: the Centipede, the Snake, the Scorpion, the Lizard, and the Toad.

Saw this way back in the day, but could not remember the name until he recently stumbled upon a youtube clip. Fighting from the side of a wall still cracks me up.

Top 50 Cult Movies by Entertainment Weekly

Entertainment Weekly Magazine published their list of the Top 50 Cult Movies in their May 23, 2003 issue. Seven of their choices below were pre-1970, and only two pre-1950.

The magazine's introduction to the article on the Top 50 Cult Movies stated that "most died at the box office, some of them horribly. Mangled and despised, they were re-animated on video. And now they compose our cultural Esperanto, a subliminal vocabulary of vaguely subversive images, ideas, and phrases that we continue to obsess over and dissect at parties, around watercoolers, in bars, over the blaring banalities of the mainstream media din. They are Cult Movies...So if you take your dead evil and your buckaroos banzai-ed, pour yourself a tall glass of Kool-Aid and peruse this list complete with signature lines and a near Talmudic trove of trivia."

Not obscure, but a definite cult film. A box office Bomb..but spent 2 years in the top 10 video rentals. Critics gave it a 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but the audience gives it a 91%.

    http://m.imdb.com/title/tt0091069/

This movie is called Fortress. I first saw it on channel 20? I think it was paramount 20 at the time. It was a Late Saturday morning or early afternoon showing.

It’s about some dudes who kidnap a classroom and their teacher and hold them for ransom.

A few years ago, I found it on YouTube and watched it.

The guy in the Santa mask scared the crap out of me as a kid.

The Way Way Back caught me off guard for how much i liked it. Away We Go can fall into that category as well.

    a few B movie mentions:
    Killer Clowns from Outer Space
    Gleaming the Cube
    Critters
