Former MVP... this is why when you evaluate players, skills>physical abilities. It's going to happen to Westbrook too, he's not going to be a player that ages well. Rose would still be a tremendous player if he had never suffered all of those injuries.
LOL Thibs can't let those glory days go... He gonna sign Joakim Noah too if he gets bought out/waived/stretched.
Westbrook has been declining for two years now, his highest WS/48 season was in 2015/16, when he played defense, facilitated, and only shot 4 threes a game. Its gone from .245, to .224 the next year, to .171 this season. But he lands and runs in a far safer way than Rose, he'll last into his 30s.
The thing with players like Westbrook (and Rose) is that they use their physical abilities to create their shots. One of Westbrook's favorite shots, one that is pretty unique to him tbh, is when he pushes the ball up the court at full speed getting the defender to stop the drive and then stops for a pull up jumper either from 3 but usually from mid range. Without his speed this shot is gone. Harden, can't pull this shot off because he's not fast enough to do it. Curry can't do it either because if you are a defender you are more worried about him getting an open shot, with Westbrook you have to worry about him putting you on a poster so it puts you in an impossible position to defend. Rose would do this too. Westbrook handles are really not on the level of Curry or Irving or Harden where he's going to break down defenders. He runs past guys, he jumps over guys, when he can't do that at an elite level it's going to be harder for him to score.
