CO2 is a proven greenhouse gas that traps heat in the atmosphere. CO2 is discharged in large quantities everyday into the atmosphere by burning fossile fuels of HUMANS. On the other side, the forests, which is the lung of the earth that digest CO2 into other things, have been steadily dwindling down due to overpopulation and deforestation. Adding the two sides up, it can be said that a cause and effect relationship of man made global warming is present, and it's only a matter of time before the climate reaches an insufferable high, which the energy companies are now trying to debunk or downplay.
Hasn't it been reliably "proven" that North America is much more heavily forested than it was when Columbus set foot here? Surely we need the services of the forest more because of our impact on the planet. It would be nice to live in the 19th century but with good medical care. That life would be pretty sweet, I think.
Yeah, at least the air would be fresher and stars clearer at that time considering the increase of world population: 1700 250 million 1880 1 billion 1950 2.5 billion 1987 5 billion 2020 Estimated 10 billion There might be one day there is more men than trees.
Once again you type and type and say absolutely nothing. You obviously haven't read the articles that have been posted, so please just go back to your leashholder.
I heard that wasn't true, just like when Rush Limbaugh tried to claim there were more American Indians here now.
I agree. This is truly the situation where we cannot wait for the threat to become imminent. We must not allow the harm to become realized because once it does begin to realize itself, the human race (at least the ones that cannot afford serious uber air conditioning) will not make it.
That may be true, I don't really know, but the Amazon basin has been cleared out so drastically over the past two decades that it MORE than makes up for any minor increase in forestation here. We are not talking about a North American problem, we are talking about a world problem.
The solution is simple really. We just need to genetically engineer new people/animals that breathe in CO2 and breathe out O2. Once we reach a balance, we won't need to worry anymore about burning fossil fuels, deforestation, etc.
