despite all the 'wisdomful' yaoming quotes we have heard over and over, I think everyone of us should be reminded that yaoming despite all his success and years of basket ball playing, is still a very Young man yet to mature into the great center we want him to be. He is still just a rookie trying to adjust into both the NBA and american society. So why not just be a little bit more patient with him and stop trashing him based on one or two games?

Below is an very interesting post by yaoming in his office website. I am not going to translate it since I do not have the time but other poster please do it. this quote (for me) provides a very rare glipse into yaoming's boyish side.

(if you want to translate this quote, be sure to do some background checking as well to try to put this quote 'in context').

Do not put too much pressure on the kid, do not crush him when his backbone is still weak.

I feel it's okay to start this thread because this side of yao is severely overlooked by most of us. I just want to bring some attention to this perspective and hope it could somewhat reduce the yao-bashers' fume and impatience here.

yao's that quote came as a surprise to me in the sense that I also pretty forgot that he is still a young man trying to find his berth

"Don't know what type of header to use for this post, but i do have something to say: 1st, i'm not in a good mood today, largely because of the loss. after reading you guys posts, i wanna say: I was ready to get bashed, just like what happened last year... I go the many BBS. I don't wanna always say something like: "I'm responsible for today's loss. I need to improve this. I haven't done enough for that..." That's just enough!!! I wanna say what I really means: first of all, i did play bad today, felt down and, could sleep and came here looking for bashing. But I've tried my best..I leant something despite of the loss. There'll be one more game on Saturday, what you gonna do with it? Think you can't beat them so you just give up? Or go back to CBA like some of you said? You lost a game and you went back to practice, what's the big deal of it? I have been through a lot like this. You see the more problems of yourself through a loss.

One more thing: what's wrong with me loving Sabonis's game? There are lot of his moves i can pattern after, not all of them though. He didn't do much in the NBA. Is this the reason? HAve you ever watched his game before the injury? 88 he beat the US to win the Olympic gold medal. He didnt do much in the NBA so he's a loser? Then i guess there are too many losers around....anyway, thank you for not treating me like a god..

    .......

My word may sound harsh today. hope you don't mind. I'm just a common guy."

Right now, some tough love is needed, not pampering. If he’s the type of person I think he is, he won’t crumble from the pressure and criticism. The true greats use the criticism as inspiration to prove their doubters wrong.

He should be welcoming the bashing he’s getting so he can prove everyone wrong NOT cowering like a baby and asking for forgiveness or patience.

It’s just like last season when everyone was calling him a bust before seeing him play and calling him the next Shawn Bradley. He used that a fuel to prove them all wrong.

calm down. at least this is kinda like an "info" type of thread instead of personal hatred bashing threads like so many others.
Anyway, it's funny that one of the posters there replied that he went back home and use the Rockets to beat Spurs twice...on NBA live 2004. May be we should do that more instead of projecting all our disatisfaction with the team here. ;)

Hey, can anyone post on his board that I, TECH, would be honored to work on his new BMW 745?
    :D

Well, I don't work at Downtown Advantage, but rather the Advantage store in League City. I'd be interested in knowing if he actually plans on bringing his car in for service himself, or having someone else do it. :D

Oh, and thanks for the info. I have to wonder if all the comments he is reading is messing up his mind and confidence though. He shouldn't be too concerned about what the entire community thinks....imo. All the negativity can bring a guy down, ya know?

Oh, I have access to Yao's telephone number and address too. Hehe. ;)

Good point. Yao needs to know how to handle critisim. If I were him, I wouldnt log onto internet chat with his fans everyday.

One, wow, Yao takes more beating from Chinese fans than he does here. IMO he takes critcism very well, what other NBA player would try to communicate with his fans after every game.

i dont see any boyish spirits from yao's post, what i see is a guy full of wisdom and humility... i do believe he will have a coming-back against the spurs tomorrow.
