That does make a lot of sense. Nothing good comes for the Lakers if every team knows their plans.

Frankly though, they should wait until the 2019 class. I think they will be more attractive as a destination then. But if it happens, it's not great news for the Rockets necessarily -- if they want LeBron, they need a team that is a threat to sign him outright to get Cleveland to play ball on an opt-in-and-trade. Also, I don't care where Paul George goes, I just don't want him to stay with OKC (OK, I don't want him at Golden State either :)). He's an awesome player (the best they have, imo) and I want that move to backfire on Presti.

PS. I have a hard time seeing Carmelo opting out of a $28M deal for next season. He won't get that anywhere.

He don’t like em. Stole Melo. But works out bc he can’t opt into 28 million here

Cyberx, thanks for posting/commenting on this report. Your analysis seems very likely to me.

Agree with all of this. Also want the PG move to blow up in Presti's face.

So, for my money, the Lakers can have PG. Just as long as the Rockets get Lebron. ;)

How can this be? ESPN told me they were the front runners to land Lebron, George and Neymar to play with Ball and Kuzma.

Good news... Lebron having a legitimate option to sign in LA creates the possibility that CLE could lose Lebron for nothing. If the options are Opt-In and trade to Houston for something, or let Lebron go to LA for nothing, that gives us a real chance to get a deal done.

All we need now is the Cyber-bomb... And hey, we would like it sooner rather than later, right? Still holding out hope for that 1% chance that a surprise trade happens on Thursday =)

Edit: Oops, I should have read through the responses first, I see Clutch already stated my point... sorry for the redundancy.

Agreed on all points. There is no way in hell Melo opts out. There are a whole lot of teams sitting at 24-25 losses and not all will be playoff teams. While I certainly think OKC makes it they are an up and down mess and not really a TEAM. Iso 1on1 for an entire game does not a team make. I still see that crashing and burning and PG thinking a 1+1 in LA doesn't look so bad versus being saddled with Russ and Melo that he will know screws him forever in OKC. OR He has the opt in just like LBJ. Presti would never deal with the Rockets but... Same scenario as Cavs.
