Don't know if this has been proposed yet, so I apologize if it's already been discussed (moderator, please feel free to lock this thread if it's redundant). How about packaging Cato, Mobley, and Francis in trade for Kobe. Kobe wants to opt for free agency, and Lakers probably will try to deal him rather just let him walk for nothing. 1) Would this be too much to give up for Kobe? 2) Would the Lakers do this deal or can other teams come up with better offers/packages (please give detailed answers including players involved, etc). 3) Would Kobe be willing to play with Yao in Houston, or will he still opt for free agency no matter what?
a guy that could fit in houston without blowing up the team is brent barry. can shoot, can take it to the hole, good size for a guard, has true point skills and floor vision. can be had for the MLE. would be the big point to let steve play the 2. ohhh well, pipedream
Forget Brent Barry, we need to pick up a guy who's sitting on the Pacers' bench right now..a guy who averaged over 6 assists a game last season, is young, quick, and plays excellent defense. His name? Jamal Tinsley. Move SF to the 2 and Mobley to the bench (hey, 6th man of the year). Francis can unleash his scoring ability and not worry about ball distribution.
some of our guys may be stupid, but i would never want someone so stupid that he had sex with some average high schooler instead of his fine, ass wife. adultery is wrong, but its even worse if you take a step down.
too 1 dimensional. also known as one of the worst shooting gaurds in the league. doesnt have barrys height, cant gaurd opponents 2s...if we were to have steve moved to the 2. barry is the perfect compliment to stevie in the backcourt.
what players can seriously be had this offseason without blowing up the team? sure you can dream about ben wallace or elton brand to team with yao, but its not going to happen, unless you have 13 mill lying around? brent barry is the perfect compliment to steves game, which will as everyone wants, allow steve to play the 2. he also is available under or around the 4-5 mill mark.
You guys keep complaining about Steve's selfish play and you want Kobe here ? On top of that, he got torched by Nash and Co. last night...you'd start listing all the guards with less turnovers and more assists as soon as he got here...
Kobe is a SG, so by default he is "forced" to look for his own shots. An argument could be made that Kobe is a PG than Francis is. Kobe plays defense. Francis does not. Kobe also makes others around him better, Francis does not really do that.
