I think this might be the result of the looser language showing up on basic cable. Like during Thanksgiving, Comedy Central showed the South Park movie uncut. I think I've heard the word "sh*t" on TBS during a movie like Exit Wounds or something. Still, it's not like this is on local TV or during prime time.
http://fauxpress.org/words_you_cant_say_on_tv.htm Words you can't say on television: ass, *******, balls, b*stard, beat off, blow job, blow me, bull****, butt hole, Christ (God is acceptable if it's not offensive in the manner it is used), ****, **********, come, came (used in a sexual context), ****, dick, d******d, dickwad, eat me, ***, f*****, frigging (freaking is okay), ****, ****ing, **** you, ******* (just 'damn' is okay), hand job, hard-on, humping, jerk-off, Jesus ('Jeez' is okay), lay, laid, mother****er, piss, pissing, prick, p***y, putz, quim, schmuck, screw (in sexual context), scumbag, suck, ****, tit, twat, whacking off And there you have it.
That could be, too, though I don't know that cable transmissions are considered "broadcasts". I know they don't fall under the same language rules as the networks and over-the-air stations do, or radio stations for that matter.
