Losing ryno and pj for lebron does it really do anything to depth if thats what your worried about. Losing EG on the other hand does mess with things a little even if dwade is coming with.

Yes it does something, DWade isn't guaranteed, neither is his price. Everything matters when we're talking about 'depth'.

Does it matter overall (your point I think)... probably not. I'm just talking about depth.

Sure , you give up one bench piece - either Tucker or EG ..... That's not "destroying the Rockets depth" on the scale that it would destroy GW to send out Thompson and Green (Two starters) just to open up the caps space.

You aren't hard capped and have means to replace that player.

If it s EG who you sent out , you can take on Lebron's $35m and another $6.5m - Get a 3rd team involved and add your replacement.

I think if you ask any player would they consider GSW if they had the cap space and wanted you - you say yes. Consider is a very meaningless word though. It'd be stupid not to consider any offer. What is he suppose to say?

I doubt Lebron would want to play with those guys. He's not KD

There are 240 minutes in a game. Usually 48 of those occupy the 4. Ryno wastes 30 and the other 18 are filled by Tucker. So now we get about 20 minutes of decent defense and almost no offense out of the 4. I think adding LBJ would give us at least an extra 10 minutes of depth and a whole lot of offense. Your right. DWade isn't guaranteed. So when DWade comes anyway we have minutes in the rotation for him too. We also have the ability to sign anyone to a minimum deal after we resign Luc to the taxpayer MLE. Maybe we can keep EGo and maybe not. If we retain all of the trade value going over the cap, I like LBJ+DWade+ring chasers over Ryno+Tucker or Ryno+EGo. Morey has proven repeatedly that if he can pull off the major trade he can quickly find the supporting pieces to make it work. Ryno has negative value ON THE COURT so really this is a straight up trade for EGo or Tucker for LBJ. I don't know any Rockets fan who doesn't make that trade and it IMPROVES our depth. People that should be on the court will be and remove a great burden from our other players minutes.

Imagine if instead of Ryno we had some other tradeable contract/s last summer and instead of OKC, PG13 came here after PG3. Would we have run our stars in the ground so easily to get hurt? Would we have 13 losses or 7? Do we have another couple of pieces after that trade and draft picks to acquire another asset around $10M right now? Are we a far better team in a much better position to acquire LBJ in trade or SNT this summer. Before you say hypothetical, this is the point of what does depth really mean in the grand scheme. The only thing that matters is which combination of 5 players are on that court for 240 minutes. This is the price of carrying an anchor. Depth is more than just a body that takes up SPACE.

Why is everyone so keen about Lebron joining Rox?

A better scenario would be Rox wins the ring this year and Lebron will not join Rox if that happen.

This is a very out of the box question but will someone with cap knowledge please answer.

Can we acquire both Lebron and PG?....say we get rid of Nene, Black,Tucker,EG,Ryno and Ariza?

Because he is the best player in the game.

Even if you win a ring you would still like Lebron on the team.

Technically now yes in trade but we would have to stay below our hard cap at $119 and maintain the roster spots and do a more advanced trade that balances players for other teams roster spots. http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ybrvdw23

    ...so

Literally no. We can only do things through trade operating above the cap. If you operate below the cap, people have cap holds until you sign them to a new contract. Capela $7M, CP3 $39M, Harden $30M, EGo $13M, Ryno $20M to a cap of $101M. You then have to squeeze Capela, LBJ, PG13, and CP3 and everyone else under $101M. It will never work. If we go the trade route, PG13 and LBJ can opt in. A CP3 like trade is possible and maybe even the probably route for LBJ but PG13 with OKC may be much more difficult. Doubtful they want to help us out for scraps to give us their star. Cleveland may work a little differently. In both cases the teams may have the incentive to do it because they lose the star for nothing. I don't see this happening at all and this is assuming we already found another home for Ryno prior. We would have to avoid anything that triggered the apron hard cap at $125M because we could never keep the roster under without a lot of people taking less. A sign and trade triggers it. Ours got trade below the apron this year because of the nontaxpayer MLE and BAE for Tucker and Black. You also have to fill out 15 roster spots with at least minimum cap holds. LBJ is a gigantic ask and PG13 is a bridge too far. I still think he bolts west to LA but would not be surprised to see him stay in OKC for the money on a 1+1.

It would be a poetic justice if LBJ is traded to GSW for Durant :D.

I'd take LBJ in a heartbeat, but I'm not keen on DWade.

Would love both. But if forced to chose one, then I take the ring this season.

Good thing choice is not in either of our controls.
