What's the latest with suspended Rocket Eddie Griffin?
Answer: Status quo. Griffin, the Rockets' third-year forward, remains on indefinite suspension while he sorts through his myriad personal problems. On Wednesday he appeared in a Houston courtroom for a hearing on his felony assault trial, where he was ordered by a judge to obey a 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew and undergo random drug tests.

Griffin, 21, is accused of attacking a woman who went into his suburban Houston home last Oct. 25. The woman, who described herself as Griffin's girlfriend, told police the 6-foot-9, 210-pound athlete beat her and shot at her outside. Griffin, who could face up to 20 years in prison, has denied the charges.

At the time of Griffin's arrest, he was already on suspension from the Rockets for missing a preseason road trip and a subsequent practice. He also faces a separate trial for mar1juana possession, the result of an arrest last April.

Even if Griffin, who recently returned from in-patient treatment for substance abuse and depression, returns this season, his future with the Rockets is murky at best. Houston declined to pick up the option on his contract, which pays him $2.3 million this season, so he will be an unrestricted free agent after the season.

Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy and team officials won't comment on Griffin's situation, other than to show support. Several Rockets players have been in touch with him, however, and are optimistic he will return this season.

"He was enthusiastic about getting back to practice and playing basketball," Steve Francis recently told the Houston Chronicle. "We're going to continue to strive to get him back here. Whatever it takes."

    i frankly don't care...

who cares if he ever plays again?

his game stinks, we gave up too much for him, and he has only been a detriment and distraction to our team...

i care. he can still be a good player..if someone makes a mistake in life, it doesnt mean you just give up on them. if eddie was averaging 20 pts a game, a lot of people would still care but unfortunately people only seem to care about players who perform well.

He shrunk 1 inch and lost 15 pounds..

I don't think Griffin will return to play for the Rockets and if he does..he won't make a significant impact...I hope he can play for us..

But for now..bye bye. Time to move on...hopefully he is okay.
