Yeah Drew, that sucks. About 3 weeks ago my boss, at a place I've worked for 5 years and planned on staying at for the forseeable future, asked me to do some seriously unethical ****. So I quit. Haven't thought about hitting the streets looking for work yet, but I'm not looking forward to it. Best of luck to you. Funny how this **** never happens in, say, July, when there's nothing going on...
Wow! That is all it takes to get on your ignore list? and I thought I was quick on the ignore trigger...
That sucks Drew! Keep your head up with eyes and ears open. Something will come up. I'm back at Adecco doing recruiting during the 3 days a week I'm not at my Unisys, so give me a call. We have a few things going on if you get in a bind. Nothing sales related, but it is a paycheck.
One of the most personally rewarding projects, IMO, is starting your own business. In the early days you live on the edge but you celebrate every small victory. You work your tail off from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. and wonder why you don't just work for someone else because that's 9 to 5 with benefits. But no one is looking over your shoulder (except your creditors) and you begin to feel empowered because you make the decisions that matter. One day you look up and you have employees and now you must consider their well being (lest you become like the corporate scrooges who just laid you off at Christmas). So you work even harder because, if your company doesn't prosper, your staff (who become as close as children) doesn't prosper. Ultimately you become a Republican because you can't understand why you as a small corporation have to pay unemployment tax on yourself when you are not eligible to receive it. Then you look back and wonder how you became a greedy capitalist. But seriously, Drew, may good fotune find you. Remember, there is a reason why we put a particular phrase on all our money.
Is it even worth all the hassle? How much money would they give out anyways? $100 a week or something?
Dog, like I've said since the first time I met you. It shouldn't BE about the money it should be about being happy. You only have yourself to worry about right now - BE HAPPY.
Maybe about double that, but I don't really know. I think it varies state to state. I just tried to find a good sight for you, but I failed miserably. I did however find this, if it makes you feel any better...
It depends on how much you made, too, I believe. It's worth the hassle. There actually isn't all that much hassle to it. I have a friend who's been fired twice so far this year. He was fired for cause both times, though.
And don't waste any more time. Go tomorrow first thing. The amount you receive goes down every day so that, when you really need it, there's not much to receive.
Don't know what it is in Texas these days, but In New York I get $405 before taxes. It comes out to $365 a week. I'm allowed 26 weeks. I'm up to week 7. It's easy Drew. I even claim my benifits over the web. Takes two minutes a week. I looked up Texas' site. http://www.twc.state.tx.us/ui/bnfts/claimantinfo.html
In Austin with Drew's situation, it should come out to be just shy of $300 per week[it could be more if you work part-time(less than 40 hours) and earn less than about $396 for the week you report....see below] Actually, you don't need to "go" anywhere, except for your computer. Go to this site and it will tell you everything you need to do. http://www.twc.state.tx.us/news/press/2003/060403press.html It's easy. File. Register for work with TWC. Then wait for the claim to be processed. Since you were laid off, you should get your benefits. You will need to report earnings every two weeks. You'll receive info for when you need to do this. I had to do all of this earlier this year. I ended up waiting tables and reporting the earnings I made which bumped up my benefit(to about $400/wk) where if earned less than the new amount, I'd still get benefits. Fortunately I have two good jobs now. Call me man. Maybe I can help you out.
dauyum that is fatty fat fat if I got the $329 bones a week. I needs to stay away from de alcholic beverages. bad bad bad bad bad Sloppy jo slopppy sloppie joes he he Carlton Sheets is on right now trying to convince my ass to buy this money making systeem that could make me MILLIONS of dollars every week all by using his methods..... Soudns good for only 10 paymemts of $29.95!!!!
Man the guy that took over my job last week got fired yesterday. I really liked my old job and I wanted to do it again but the last thing I wanted was somebody to get fired especially during the holidays. I promise, if I ever own my own business I will never fire an employee between October-February.
