unfortunate. she was the voice of reason most times. she and kellerman should have worked side by side.
Gets hired as a writer and writes like a sassy teenager?!? Good riddance and I might starting watching the early sportscenter now. I've actually never watched the 6, because of her, so I'm curious to see how different it is.
Haven't watched SportsCenter except for Rockets highlights every so often. Liked her on His and Hers. I did see that Different World skit they did which was pretty good. I'm sure she just had it with the social media trolls.
ESPN is a sinking ship thanks the the 24/7 sports access of the internet and general cord cutting. In their desperation, they've infused most of the network programming with constant op ed comments. When people are allowed to voice their opinion, a large portion of the audience isn't going to like that opinion one way or the other. Rarely watch much ESPN anymore save for PTI and the games, but what I have seen of her was pretty meh. Just another talking head in a network full of talking heads.
She went from about $100k to 1M in 10 years. Not too bad. Net worth is now 4M. What her salary is now I have no idea, but I'm sure it was cut. If I was her I would have kept the gig and asked for an additional opportunity to contribute columns. What I liked about her was that I thought she was able to quickly get to a not so obvious truth, and easily communicate that truth on any given topic while everyone else was in middle of extreme takes and missing the bottom line.
I made it a point to change the channel from ESPN specifically because of her. I might actually get to watch Sportscenter at 4pm now....
Overall I didn't have a problem with Smith and Hill. I liked their chemistry on His & Hers. And clearly ESPN tried to parlay that into a SportsCenter show. It was worth a gamble. The show started out ok with the same His & Hers vibe, but then we had Hill's twitter thing, and the suspension and then the show slowly moved away from the His & Hers feel into more of a standard SC show. There were "stand ups" and "run downs." A more formal desk was brought in and the background graphics of Boo Yah and His & Hers chachkies where gone. You could see the show shifting. I don't think they moved her off as much as started to create a more clinical environment that just made her feel stifled and she knew she would not be happy with that. I didn't really have a problem with Hill that much but at the same time won't miss her. So, eh.
No...Trump brought the current political issues into sports. He is a racist and trying to distract from his short comings .
