if ANYONE doesn’t have Harden as the clear cut MVP right now and is still talking about Lebron for MVP, they should have their basketball card revoked on sight

at this point, Lebron over Harden for MVP would be worse than Russ over Harden last year

the media is silent because they don’t want to acknowledge the truth, Harden is the MVP

Yeah, I think the All-Star teams solidified it. Especially if the Rockets finish a clear second and only a few games back. The primary narrative last year was Westbrook has no help (even though Harden didn't have another all star either). The media made it sound like the difference in "help" was extreme.

Now this year, if we're comparing Durant to Harden, you have a guy playing with three other all-stars and one playing with no all-stars. How is the "help" argument not even more relevant this year? Especially since the Rockets are actually a good team whereas the Thunder were not a good team, and may even finish closer in the standings.

That was my biggest issue last year. Even if Westbrook didn't have any help, how can you give the MVP to someone who isn't even valuable enough to will his team to be good. Help or no help it doesn't matter, you have to have some evidence that what you are doing results in elite team success. There was no evidence that Westbrook's play last season resulted in winning at a high level! ****!!! Great, and now I'm getting upset all over again...thanks a lot OP!

Well b4 Harden went down with injury he was the frontrunner. The 7 game stretch allowed LeBron to basically have the opportunity to seal it and he blew it.

-Greek Freak has missed 5 games and he Dosent have a good enough record in the Easter conference.

Kyrie has a good record but no stats to back it up. And not to mention they don't have a better record than Houston.

Curry is a 2time MVP and he has missed 16games. The MVP has never been given to a player missing more than 7games and that was Steve Nash.

Kd- has missed same amount of games as harden and Dosent have better stats nor the head to head. And he plays with 4 all-star wink wink...

Hardens case. Leads the league in Ppg and 3rd in assist. Top 10 in steals all while having the 2nd best record in the league on a team with *cough cough no all-stars! Who would have thought that the year he finally won MVP he would have missed 7games

Chris Paul's snub should lead Harden to his third MVP trophy....oh wait.

    Nvm.

That's the "tone" I am hearing now. "reluctantly." Like Harden is the only option right now with LeBron's team in the tank, Gannis' team at .500 and Durant/Curry hurting each other's chances.

    It doesn't solidify anything.
There are a few people who construct the narratives and all the rest keep parroting whatever they say.
Lowe, Woj, Simmons to a lesser degree Pelton, Haberstroh , Duncan etc
If they want to crown someone else MVP, believe me they WILL find a reason, build the picture and the rest of the media will vote accordingly. (Oh, Lebron got to 30k points. Lifetime achievement MVP, oh KD/Curry lead their team to 1st place and about to win a championship etc etc).

I don't know why this is happening to Houston since it's not a small market. Is it Harden himself that noone likes?
BUT from an objective standpoint - just from listening to analysts and not TNT clowns- it's obvious Harden is repeatedly shunned even now.

It's the exact opposite with Boston where even a trash roleplayer is glorified and paraded in the media.

It's hilarious. I remember Michelle beadle was making fun of durant from his players choice awards and picking harden as the fake "players MVP". Like lady what makes you and Max kellerman more qualified to pick an MVP than the actual players themselves?!

Because the media likes Lebron and they don't care for Harden. Pretty simple, really.

I was being tongue in cheek. The "less help" argument is even more pronounced for Harden vs Durant, so using last year's logic it must solidify it, right?

it's really harden's own fault that the media hate him. if he only agrees to shave the bird nest, people will start liking him.

I liked how someone said, during pre-game against the Heat, that "it would be hard to deny Westbrook the MVP if he averages a triple double again, which he almost is".

    https://www.theringer.com/nba/2018/...n-james-james-harden-steph-curry-kevin-durant

    The Front-runner
    James Harden, Rockets
    31.2 points, 9 assists, 4.8 rebounds, 1.8 steals, 54.7 eFG%

The only argument you can make for Harden not holding down this spot by himself is that he’s missed seven games because of a hamstring injury. That’s it. Harden is taking and making 1.2 fewer free throws per game than last season, yet his league-high 31.2 points per game are a career high. He’s also top three in the league in assists, and he’s shooting a career high from 3 while averaging double-digit attempts.

In Mike D’Antoni, Harden found his perfect coach. In Chris Paul, he found his perfect running mate; everything from their chemistry to their minute-staggering strategy has worked to near-perfection. The Rockets have yet to lose in the 18 games in which Harden, Paul, and rim-running center Clint Capela have played together.
