Mavericks want a first round pick for Wesley Matthews

    Marc Stein, back to working for Dallas.



    Not only does Matthews make just under $18 million this season, he has a player option (which is death to cap managers) for next season at close to $19 million.

    I can't see anyone giving them a first round pick for taking that contract on without giving back a worse contract (longer salary commitment).

    Lol. When Mavs thought Matthews, Parsons, Jordan (b4 he bailed) was the future of that team.

    They can get a first.
    For example a 2021 top 15 protected first rounder + Deng or Noah.
    When he opts in he will still be an expiring so the Knicks/Lakers won't have that much trouble getting rid of him then.

    Bad contract for Worse longer contract + first.
    He will be expiring anyway next season it's not a bad deal for a team that wants desperately to clear capspace.

    We should be rooting for Cuban to get that team now that we're thinking back. And Nerlens Noel signing for that near-max contract offer. Harrison Barnes eating cap space as well. That team is set for years to fight for the 8th seed.
