james Harden is currently just shy of 50% on 2s and 40% on 3s while attempting over 10 per game of each. Has anyone ever accomplished this? I checked curry and while he has hit 50 on 2s and 40 on 3s in the same season, he’s never done it while attempting ten of each.
doubt it How many other players in NBA history other than Curry and Harden have ever attempted at least 10 threes per game?
Highly unlikely it’s ever been done before if Steph hasn’t done it. This new “barometer” of volume of 3s attempted and made are still very new concepts in the entirety of the nba history of stats. That being said... He he finally does join the 50/40 club at 10+ on both that is an incredible feat. It should absolutely be held up in regards as one of the best offensive seasons of all time. That efficiency and volume combination is pretty remarkable. I doubt he gets it tho, unfortunately. Don’t get me wrong I’ll root for it and want him to achieve it. But I think he likely settles down at 48-49 and 38-39 which 88-89 which is remarkable! Who cares about the round number really? 49.2/39.1/88.6 would be about just as dominate as 50.0/40.0/90.0
Curry's unanimous MVP season was close enough. That was an amazing year for him and 73 wins for that team. Too bad they couldn't win in the finals. That really would've been something. It's like all these accomplishments meant nothing all of a sudden. So sad. I want to cry for the entire Curry family.
Well we know how much round numbers matter for historical reasons. On the 2 pointers: Harden's career average is .499 which is exactly where he sits right now. Last year he was a .530. It's certainly conceivable he's going to get over .500 again On the 3 pointers: This is the more challenging one for James. He sits at .396 right now which would already be his career high. He'd have to get hot and stay hot for an extended period of time to close out the season. Right now he's hot again like he was to start the season. It's certainly possible but I think unlikely. No question though that it is dominant even if he falls short of the round numbers, but the round numbers would be staggering. 50% on 2s and 40% on 3s with over 10 attempted of each per game is insane. Some others to do 50/40 on 2s/3s: Lebron 2012: only 3 3 pointer attempts per game Nash (multiple years): most 3s in a season was just short of 5 Korver this year: Just over 5 3s and less than 2 "2s" per game It really is very impressive and for the sake of history I hope he gets it. A cool stat.
Curry has done it but again, shy of 10 attempts. (I know arbitrary round number) He was at 9 2 point attempts per game. His percentages though were insane obviously. Guy is an animal shooter.
Curry and Harden are the only players to average more than 10 3PA/G, so nope, it's never been done. Isaiah Thomas last year came the closest I guess.
