Just wanted to let everyone know so I can get some ClutchCity Karma. Some of you might remember my stock trading posts...well my friend told me about a stock trading company here in Austin and he just got hired on there. If he got hired then I certainly like my chances. I'm getting ready to start teaching him about the market, if that tells you anything. I didn't even know that there were any companies like this left, but this place seems pretty reputable from what I understand and they are looking to expand. Anyway...I have been dying all week waiting for tomorrow. It's like Christmas is coming on Thursday for me. I am so pumped up for this. I've finally found what I want to do with my life and I have so much passion for learning and trying to succeed in the stock market. God I am gonna get plastered on Thursday if I get this job...LOL. And I get the added bonus of a Rockets/Spurs game to watch. I don't see any reason why they wouldn't hire someone like me for the job, but god I am expecting the worst. Like they are gonna say "Well you're obviously very hard working and like the market a lot, but we aren't really looking for anyone right now" or some crap like that. I'm gonna go insane waiting for tomorrow. All I have been doing for the past couple weeks is thinking about what I will say and everything. Ok enough rambling....wish me luck guys.
Tell them that you believe in the Efficient Market Hypothesis. That will get you the job for sure. Good luck man.
Robbie! I'm sending out serious mucho mojo vibes to you! I just had an initial interview today and I no sooner walked in the door at home when the recruiter called and said that they want me to meet the CFO and CEO of the company! So! Friday morning is the second interview! Good Luck My Man!!!!
I learn so many interesting thing from this BBS... thanks. http://www.stanford.edu/~wfsharpe/art/djam/djam.htm
well guys just got out of the interview. was a 2 1/2 hour deal. they did some computer testing too which was pretty rigorous, but i scored well enough on it. i think they were mainly concerned with speed on the computer and multitasking. i scored well on those things. i was in the 95 to 99th % for that, but then on this one test they had that spit out random letters that looked kind of like words i did terrible on. terrible to me at least...i was in the range of the average person. you would press one button if you had seen the word before and press another if you had not. then the 3rd test was just sitting in front of the comp screen waiting for these dots to form boxes and you press a button when one forms. it would kind of be like watching a game of Dots, except it was randomized and there was a finite # of dots. i interviewed with 2 ppl. the first guy was pretty much just laying stuff out and that went pretty well with him. we had a good conversation. then the CEO interviewed me next. she was trying to put me on the hot seat at first, probably because i sounded over confident in my questionnaire that i filled out, since i think i can be profitable pretty soon if not immediately. i think the comment that got me was something like "3.0 GPA, eh? not exactly great now is it?" LOL....I was like...nope not really, but i made sure she knew i was in engineering for 2 years and that really didn't help out my GPA and that I almost got a 4.0 my last semester in school. but in the end i think i won her over. she just asked why should we hire you over someone else and i gave my whole spiel (sp?) about how much i love the market, trading, and learning new things about the market. and how i have never had this much passion for something in my life and that when i do have this much passion for something that i am good at that i do everything i can to live up to my expectations and be a success. and i told her how i wouldn't let myself fail at something that i love so much. and i think she saw how those things were coming from my heart and she was finally starting to smile during the interview, so i think that was a good sign. then at the end the guy who interviewed me first said he would call back in a couple days and get some things finalized, which sounded pretty damn good to me. i think i got the job from how he talked. i'm not gonna celebrate yet, but i think things went pretty good. now if the rockets win tonight then it will truly be a good day.
Sounds good, Robbie. Hopefully you'll get the position. That should be everybody's goal in life to enjoy the work they do. Too bad probably only 5% of people out there do.
I'M BACK IN THE SADDLE AGAIN!!!! Just got home from the third interview and an offer was made! More money, a bonus, three weeks vacation, company pays full Medical and Dental and life insurance! And they are letting me take the rest of the Holidays off and not start until Jan 5! And to show how much of a BBS dork I am, I've let you guys know before I call and accept! 0oh Yeah!!!!! I'm back in the saddle again!!! What a Christmas Present! I think I'll have a beer @ 11:00 in the morning! Robbie any word for you?
Congrats MC Mark! Everything happens for a reason and it all works out in the end! You have a beer at 11AM to celebrate. I will have something much stronger in your honor after work today. Right On! Right On! Right On!!!!!!
Agreed. Something I always tell my little nieces and littl-er nephew. The secret to life is two fold: 1. Find something you really really enjoy doing. 2. Get paid for it. I've found something that I really really enjoy doing. I get paid for it, but not quite enough yet to cover my mortgage and car-note, so I work to enable myself to do the thing I really enjoy. It all works out in the end.
