I contributed to the tip jar..but it still says "member" not "contributing member"

Yeah that's weird, because I've contributed nothing, neither to the tip jar nor to the community (of substantive content) as whole, and I too am not a contributive member.

IDK how we proceed from here.

I contributed back in October but my status has not changed.

@Haymitch can you update mine? I can send you the email with the PayPal transaction or screenshot it.

 

I went to the feedback section and expressed my disapproval of the newly-implemented advertisements on CF.net (many years ago the CF forums didn't have ads). I was banned for more than a year. When I was allowed back, my status was changed from "Contributing Member" to "Member" and it's been this way ever since.

 

You're like the Clutchfans Jesus who got banned trying to save us from ads but was resurrected as an inferior member. Praise be to droxford.

Somehow, I don't thinik they'll change my status from "Member" to "ClutchFans Jesus"

Many years ago I donated $20. Never happened. At that point I really just wanted the ability to edit my posts, and since I can do that now my title doesn't bother me.

What are the perks (if any) of 'contributing' status nowadays?

I have donated a few times. Never updated but not a big deal.

As for the advantages; you get access to the “after dark” dating/hook up forums and the “shared recipes” forum. The “after dark” forums are legendary. After a bad break out of herpes back in 2008; the forum is kept on the down low.

 

You also indicated how members could rid themselves of said income stream.

Keep in mind as well that ad blockers weren't a huge thing yet so that and a sprinkle of arrogance got him booted. Droxford is a good poster just crossed a line -- I don't think he deserved a year ban, but take my post as an summary I could certainly be leaving out some key issues.

 

I paid ten bitcoins back in 2009 and I got contributing member status a week later.

i think ive contributed in my old account last decade ago, but never bothered since it wasn't much and i was ashamed.
