When you diss someone, it's almost part-and-parcel to laugh at them. "Diss" probably comes from "disrespect" or "dismiss," so the laughter of ridicule fits right in. That being said, it was really the interviewer who baited Maggette: the framing of the question took as its conclusion that Yao was easy to dunk on, the only matter left was which was easier. However, Maggette gladly took the bait, so I'm looking forward to him taking another of Yao's elbows to his face in short order.

wow, i completely disagree about your opinion that Yao was hyped...a more correct timeline is this... Yao got bashed from the start... Yao was a stiff, like shawn bradley... gets booed on the very first day he gets drafted.... everyone mocks him all summer Yao plays first game against indiana, did what all rookies do and gets embarassed, everyone is confirmed that he sucks... than, CAto is out, and Yao gets to play, than all of the sudden he shoots a crazy 75% to challenge wilt's record, he starts all these no look passes, up and unders and dream shakes, then he shows people he can shoot, shoots 9-9 in LA, makes charles eats ass, drops 30-16 on dallas... than, and only then was he given his deserved praise... make no mistake, Yao was definitely bashed first, then given his due props... and through it all he persevered with dignity, class and sportsmanship...thats why he has captured many peoples thoughts and imagination...go rockets!

I thought Corey's comments were kind of funny actually. Just a litle trash talk. We wouldn't be so sensitive if it wasn't Yao. I thought it was hilarious when Falcons CB Ray Buchanan quipped that Shannon Sharpe looks like a horse.
Maggette is a punk, but he does have a point about Yao's looks up close. The guy has a problem cleaning up that facial hair. Its all over the place, randomly spread out.
